building work in time of budget crisis and financial austerity

Money is tight and work is hard to find in the building world,
would it be wrong of us to use this forum to find good local tradespeople to work on our house ?
I think it would be nice to help others in our lifestyle we are ment to be a community after all, be good to know that flashing the work man/woman would go down well and not get the policy called plus a bit of cash and payment in kind could not only be good but loads of fun !
So looking for
electrician
plasterers
bricklayer
Some to help plan / build a extsion and
conservatory
Not looking for free just trying to save some money (and have some fun)  |

The thing is I am looking for some of these trades along with a plumber, gasman and a kitchen fitter too but, not knocking anyone, I would be a little wary of using someone from Fab only because I wouldn't want to be expected to play with them in return for a cheap quote. On the other hand, I could have fun finding the right one I suppose  |

this would be our first fear.
someone coming round to do some work and expecting something other than fair payment at the end.
yes, we can all hope someone is mature enough to realise that sex isnt always on offer, but lets be honest, thats not always the case. |
