is a much loved word in the English language, and although opinion on its use are divided, it nonetheless introduces a concept...
What is apparent to you and therefore needs no further mentioning... except on this thread... |

"Well when someone says apparently you know its going to be followed up with some juicy gossip"
ok, what about ...
APPARENTYLY there is a thread going at the moment which encourages innocent bystanders to strip!!! |

In that case it means your not positive if there is one there or not other wise you would just say there is a thread going at the moment which encourages innocent bystanders to strip, omitting the word apparently |

there is an APPARENT lack of enthusiasm for using the word "apparently" - to me, poor foreigner (and not the swan hunting, testicle making variety) apparently and evidently are almost the same but not quite? |

Surely apparently means not sure and evidently means you have evidence to back up your statement. May i ask where your getting your research from as regard lack of enthusiasm |

The "lack of enthusiasm" just related to the previous 4 posts where the word was not used lol
I must confess that I was struggling a bit with the difference between the two words but I can see what you mean with the definition of "evident" - cheers |

"Glad to see we are all back on track using the "apparently" Thanks everybody xx
Anymore words you would like us to use more frequently "
Cannot actually remember where I picked up the "apparently" it was on a different thread this evening... was just a bit of fun playing with the word...
Shall we start another thread where everybody starts their posts with the same word... open to suggestions, don't want to appear bossy or prescriptive... |
