When i was a girl it was always seen
To be raspberry ripple or vanilla icecream
In a box it would come all ready for tea
Oh sundays we looked forward to with such glee
Sometimes we took our own bowl to the van
He would fill it up would our ice cream man.
When we got older screwballs or 99s for me.
The tune would sound and off we would flee
To our mothers for a couple of bob
Stickers for our bikes of him we would rob
Now where is he i here myself say
Never a van comes round this way
Only static at shows or fetes
There he is just inside the gates
I miss the jingle jangle and smile of the man
Who used to appear with his big magic van
So supermarkets now are the place to get flavours galorie
But i still wish the icecream man would come to our door
