Where have they all gone?

I used to be able to walk into a shop and drool over them, when I could afford it actually buy some of it.

I went into several shops recently, nost of them told they don't stock it........

All I am left with is inferior stuff like Shimano and SRAM LoL.

No probs with availability of the Campags that I like- there's a lovely pair of Campag Ducati Bevel wheels ending tonight on ebay. However, the £2k price is a bit fo a problem though.

I have a Harry Quinn hand built bike with Campag Record ( not the delta brakes ), I was looking to get a new frame and put some of my bits onto it then buy what I needed. I was also looking to build my own wheels but there doesn't seem to be many shops that stock them, call me a snob but I prefer campag to mavic.

Shimano for me - for the simple & practical reason that my arthritic thumb doesn't get on with the Campag thumb shift button, whereas the Shimano dual lever system is sweet relief.

Also, i can buy 105 level kit without having to re mortgage the bloody house!

Mind you, a 105 shifter retails at a RRP of £250...

Campy stuff may look as sexy as hell - but you might just as well chrome plate £50 notes and sit and look at them....

Shimano does the job, and keeps doing it, so if it isn't broke, then don't bother spending a fortune to fix it....

Honestly - I just can't see what the fuss is about....

(OK - I admit it - if somebody offered me a nice Campy set then I'd loose all sense of righteousness and grovel in the dirt for it..!!!)

I know what you are saying but over the years I have broke so much Shimano stuff, from hubs, bottom bracket cups, rear block (old style), Cassette mechanism and several axles.

I have never broken anything of Campag apart from 1 axle and that was after 20 years of riding it. I just prefer Campag gear.

I'm sure Evans stock it. If not mail Campagnolo & see where it's stocked . I know one of my cycling buddies travels to London for some specific parts.

Personally Shimano has always been fine for me & I love my Mavics. I just want the rain to stop!

Another reason for using Shimano is that all my mountain bikes are fitted with Shimano kit & i don't want to have to buy a whole new set of tools to work on my best road bike.

A friend runs Campag & the prices for parts are eye-watering.

Both my bikes are fitted with 105 and it does the job, apart from one big crash I've had no issues what so ever, also the wife's bikes is kitted out with tiagra and that is spot on,

Also got a pair of mavics on my winter bike and they have run for 2 years without an issue

I used to have a 1055 kitted bike and the record kitted one, no trouble the campag loads with th other. Yes it is expensive but I prefer it. I got given all my dads old campag stuff when I started cycling, maybe thats why I prefer it.
