You know, the ones that when they come on the radio, you think who buys this?
Top of my list is Coldplay. Bland crap. I challenge anyone reading this to be able to whistle or hum 3 of their songs... I yet to meet someone who can!
A few others...
Pink FLoyd (although I do love Comfortably Numb)
Madonna
Fleetwood Mac
Genesis
Michael Bubble
Who would you add to the list? |

The Beatles ! Only famous because they were the first group to change music but I find them so dull. People rave about them but anyone who writes the lyrics "she loves you yeah yeah yeah she loves you yeah yeah yeah" is not really that talented!
Sits back and waits for the abuse |

Why bother abusing someone so ignorant of 20th century culture?
They wrote 'She Loves You' when they were virtually kids, yet a few years later were writing the likes of 'Eleanor Rigby' and 'Happiness is a Warm Gun'. No group, ever, developed musically like The Beatles. as I've said before, they went from being Westlife to Radiohead in the space of 7 years.
And I'm not even that big a fan, BTW! |

Although admittedly I was never in the demographic of people who might have enjoyed their style of music ….!.
I fail to see why anyone would've thought Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders or any of the members of All-Saints and Bananarama had any talent for singing..

Of course I have loads of times but my theory is that music is supposed to make you feel good.
Great music makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I can listen to music from groups that I've never really liked like pink Floyd and fleetwood mac and think, god that is good but I've never felt like that about the Beatles. Personal choice and everyone is different.
A few more to add to list ; Depeche mode (suicidal music) and anything by any artist who wears his baseball cap the wrong way and his jeans half way down his arse, in simple terms rap music ! |

'Music is supposed to make you feel good'? I prefer my music to produce a whole gamut of emotions. That' slime people saying they listen to classical music to relax. If you can relax whilst listening to Wagner, you're a better man than me! |

My contempt of Coldplay is probably healthy. Even more pretentious and annoying than U2 and that prick Bono which is an achievement in itself!
razorlight and johnny borrel talentless egotistical shite.
Oasis. Musically dull and uninspiring and so clichéd it's embarrassing.

I actually quite like his post-Oasis stuff and think he's a cracking singer. Oasis were every dull cliché and as sad as 80's metal bands. |

Most of the artists mentioned above have sold millions of albums including the Beatles (shudders), just proves that everyone's taste is different,
Not sure about justin beaver or whatever his name is? His name should not be mentioned whilst discussing musical talent ! |

Your post is about artists we "don't get". That's why he's on my list. I "don't get" the appeal of him or his music one iota. That doesn't mean I don't recognise millions of others do.
I've plenty of favourite artists that other people might "not get". That doesn't make any of us right or wrong. |

The only music I can't get to grips with is opera. I've several time but can't get it.
As far as general music goes I like alsorts. I can't say I dislike anyone in particular as there always seems to be at least one song I like from most artists.
As far as Coldplay goes I can whistle a tune to almost all their hits and I'm not really a fan.
Rap music seems to be getting a little stick but there are some amazing rap artists out there. I've recently been listening to someone called Aesop Rock who I think is great.
I guess what I'm trying to say is there is something in most artists that I can appreciate but then some seem to release a lot of shit too. |

Katy Perry on organising a gig ....
I'll need : 20 dancers, bongo drums, shooting flames, a dress made from stainless steel and feather plumes, 20 white unicorns with star spangled manes , some smoke machines a trapeze a cage and black storm simulation.
Beyonce : I'll need a stage. |

Barry Manilow.
Disagree though re Fleetwood Mac." With you on that one, FM our favourite band.
Bieber, Any reality show/talent show winner ( BGT/The voice etc ), where's the craft these days?
That said, you could take a lot of the glam rock bands from the seventies, the Beatles, Elvis and a lot of country and Western out into the English channel and sink it for me! Oh, and boyzone, westlife and Robbie Williams ( TT, are except from the list ) |

Saw radiohead twice in their very early days when they were support act in pubs. They were shit. And despite the fact I know they are a band I should love I still dismiss them as a band based on those early gigs. |

Exactly my point. Lucinda Williams would have been my choice too there.
She was fantastic, off her tits on booze and having a running battle with the organisers about set lengths throughout her show!
On a similar note, you ever seen Frank Turner live?
I rate him as one of the best live acts I've ever seen. I'm guessing you are lumping him in with Mumford and Sons though!
nah, quite the opposite, I love the bloke to bits. Met him twice, once when he was with Million Dead, and once when he played a pub here in Manc about 4 years ago, such a top bloke. Hopefully going to see him in a couple of weeks "
I never knowingly saw Million Dead (though I expect that I probably did) but have seen Frank loads of times, not least because I used to live round the corner from the pub that Jay/Beans on Toast worked in and he was forever playing there. First time I saw him was in a church hall, Jim out of Carter also played a set, along with assorted poetry and book readings - that was a weird one! His Wembley gig was amazing.

"Anyone who has slated early bowie up to 1978 should be shot !!!!
Talking of shooting - aim a few slugs at Robbie Williams
Bowie was only really shit for about 10 years in the 80's from Let's Dance until he got good again with Outside!
He should never be forgiven for Tin Machine though!
At last someone who understands !!!
It ain't rocket science
All Hunky Dory "

Anyone who wins X factor, ok only a handful have had any decent success.
Look at Steve brookstein (I think). Wins it, fades into obscurity, like most of the other winners. And most of them only cover songs, they don't write them.
Bob Marley - only know 2 of his songs
Justin Beiber - needs a slap |

Prince? Are you mad?
Marian.Ahgggg!!! Just want to slap the screechy bitch.
Your post is about artists we "don't get". That's why he's on my list. I "don't get" the appeal of him or his music one iota. That doesn't mean I don't recognise millions of others do.
I've plenty of favourite artists that other people might "not get". That doesn't make any of us right or wrong.
I think he was being facetious!!! Ben has a strange sense of humour
Who you calling strange?
Savage Garden
Keane
Screachy female singers like Whitney, Mariah etc"

"The Beatles ! Only famous because they were the first group to change music but I find them so dull. People rave about them but anyone who writes the lyrics "she loves you yeah yeah yeah she loves you yeah yeah yeah" is not really that talented!
Sits back and waits for the abuse
Why bother abusing someone so ignorant of 20th century culture?
They wrote 'She Loves You' when they were virtually kids, yet a few years later were writing the likes of 'Eleanor Rigby' and 'Happiness is a Warm Gun'. No group, ever, developed musically like The Beatles. as I've said before, they went from being Westlife to Radiohead in the space of 7 years.
And I'm not even that big a fan, BTW!
Eleanor Rigby !! No comment !!
Probably says more about you than Eleanor Rigby! Have you ever actually listened to the lyrics?" yep iv listened to all their lyrics and I still don't like them |

If you threw a chair on stage it would have more charisma than Bonio, he's the most boring turd ever.
Prince is electric live. |

Eminem
If one person deserved to be taken outside and shot as punishment for crimes against quality music that TWAT eminem would win hands down. I mean who the hell could listen to that man and say oooo that sounds good ??? " I love some of his music Cant say all of it, but some really works for me. But Phil Collins, absolutely no thanks. And Simply Red, yuck. Love Fleetwood mac, the few songs I know from radio play - a few of you have dissed them. |

Hip hop/rap. As far as I'm concerned it's just a guy talking over a beat of somebody else's tune while a more popular singer sings the chorus...almost every popular rap song follows this formula |

It's Simon Cowells fault and the industry itself.
Music died in the mid nineties when talented groups were banned. I I feel sorry for young folks now who will only know dross based manufactured trash. And even more depressingly will buy it thinking this is the epitome of musicianship. Singer songwriters on strummy guitars in floaty dresses are the present. And the future. Big Brother demands you decry the past even though you thought the Beatles were a boy band. Oh dear. When David Bowie gets a winners award for best make artist 40 years ONI. You know we've hit rock bottom. |

"Bono i mean anyone named after a dog biscuit cant be good.
Vastly overrated tosser."
Agreed.
I've never seen a performer with so little charisma. I was literally stunned watching how bland and lifeless this guy is on stage. And that's before we even get to the Jesus complex....... |
