Having just come across a thread by Aeowyn, called Your Funeral Song, which I found to be quite inspirational because of the wonderful choices posters made on it, I'm starting another music-themed topic.
Sometimes we discover a song, or piece of music, which is particularly moving but isn't necessarily known to a wider audience. I can think of a few I'd like to share, but will begin with just one. And I invite other contributors to make their own suggestions on this thread, as well as giving feedback to other songs they've just learnt about on here.
The song I warmly suggest you lend an ear to is called Drop Anchor by Martin Rossiter. He used to front the band Gene, and also happens to be the nephew of the late Leonard Rossiter. This song is beautiful in it's melancholic simplicity, and resonates on a very personal level to me. I hope you enjoy it too. Please let me know what you think of it.

Very poignant I can see, but musically to stark for me. I was going to recommend a John Mayer track with a lyric I find quite profound - but then I stumbled upon across this old track in my playlist, a gentle Zeppelin ballad (yes they exist!) called the Rain Song and I have always found it stirred great emotion in me so here it is:

I remember the first time I heard Rain Song when I borrowed 'The Song Remains the Same' off someone at school!
Agnes Obel - Riverside, beautiful and ethereal. |

Funny how music is evocative of an era and exactly how you felt at the time....the first track was definitely my first love.....
Just heard this on my WMP random playlist - one for the ladies - it exactly sums up how I felt finding my mojo again after a long marriage and divorce - yeeehaw!!! Enjoy!
(To be played very loud in a car in country lanes with the windows down!)
