Had a meet today and for the first time was introduced to Poppers. Well what can I say, they blew my mind and can't believe I've never been aware of them before.
Having said that, several hours later and the most horrendous headache how safe are they to use?
Just curious? |

Taking poppers is potentially dangerous for anyone with heart problems, anaemia or glaucoma (an eye disease).
Here’s what poppers can do to you.
They can cause your blood pressure to drop to a dangerous level. So, you shouldn’t take them if you have problems with your blood pressure, are on any blood pressure medication, or if you are taking Viagra.
You can die due to injury to red blood cells and reduced oxygen supply to vital organs.
You may lose consciousness and could die through choking on your vomit. Using poppers with alcohol can increase this risk.
Poppers are linked with risky sexual behaviour and may lead to catching a sexually transmitted disease.
They can burn your skin on contact and can kill you if you swallow them.
They're highly flammable.
They can cause nausea, headache, and disorientation. Poppers are usually sniffed from the bottle. Some people prefer to dip a cigarette into the popper bottle and inhale rather than sniff straight from the bottle.
Fatal ‘sudden sniffing death syndrome’ has been reported due to development of an abnormal heart rhythm when taking poppers.
Mixing with alcohol
Mixing poppers with alcohol can increase the risk of reducing the oxygen supply to vital organs, unconsciousness and death
still want to use them?

Poppers are either amyl, alkyl or butyl nitrite. They are an organic solvent so sniffing them is solvent abuse, no different from huffing glue or paint thinner and no less dangerous. |

Very true there was a guy on here a while back who had to call a ambulance due to chest pains I wouldn't recommend them to people the reality is you should be able to have enough fun without them. |

If anyone ever wants to try them, and Ive straight student friends who do out dancing, just take a tiny amount. That way youll know the effects and minimise worse side effects, such as head aches. They have had the formula changed alot over the years, to reduce problems too, some due to EU rules, cue Mr Farage. Dont ever take with any of the erectile dysfunction meds, not just viagra. Plus avoid if youre on other stuff, as someone pointed out. |

And of course the government never tell lies in order to shape society...
However I will say that there is some truth in what has been said...
Poppers do reduce blood pressure and it is dangerous to mix them with viagra. |

I am sure you can buy them somewhere in your city. Hippy type shops sell them. You can order them online also. If you want the best ones order from Thailand. It takes about 10 - 14 days to arrive. |

The main issue with poppers from our point of view are when people use them in public areas of swinging clubs.
We have had to complain to staff before now in order to stop them being used around us ( and other people who did not want to be subjected to them). As sated above, they can be lethal for people with certain medical conditions.

They're no different from any of the other countless poisons people put in their bodies on a daily basis.
Just use them in moderation and if in company ask if they mind first. |

Wow, yes read Frank website and it was an eye opener. As I stated first time of using them and more than likely the last, as for having fun without them yes you can but they do heighten the experience so was glad to try them but I'll be saying no in future. Just like I tried cigarettes as a teenager and didn't like them does that mean all that smoke should stop as they know the consequences of that habit? |

same as HIV, Aids, making a comeback, like most things do, but hey the government wont be spending millions this time round, they are trying to save money, and letting people kill themselves is one way of saving. |

The amyl nitrate in poppers stops oxygen getting to your brain, makes your heart pump faster so you get a rush, for best results, pour poppers onto a tissue or hanky and hold over the nose during intercourse.

back in the 80's it was found that amyl nitrate weakened the immune system, allowing any virus easy access, from common cold, STI's and of course HIV.
just google danger of poppers, plenty of scientific data.
Drugs are for Mugs.
They are sold as room de odourisers, not for sniffing ! |

They're nitrites, not nitrates.
Poppers haven't been amyl nitrite for a long time unless they are bought from overseas, and with care as there are fakes about! It's illegal to sell or supply amyl nitrite in this country. |

Its like every nerve end is turned up to 11 and your orgasm goes on for ever.
I know that this will sound like an exaggeration but that is what it does it heightens and intensifies all sexual sensations. Which of course can be quite addictive leading to overuse and some nasty side effects, going lightheaded and passing out, throwing up, getting a headache hours later (does that remind you of alcohol?) and irritating your lungs. |

The reason HIV was widespread in the gay community is that for some reason they indulged in unprotected sex more than straight people. Probably because there was no danger of pregnancy.
Had nothing to do with popper use. Your immune system is useless against HIV anyway. |

As someone else said, it's basically just solvent abuse.
They get you high and a bit dizzy and the effects are short lived (so you have to keep huffing it), ending with a banging head. |

Modern poppers as bought from Ann summers and the like are headache inducing.
If you are prepared to hunt around the internet there is a brand called Jungle Juice that you can buy from Canada and it is the original formula. No headaches and an almighty rush.
Surprising amount of intolerance from a section of society that indulges in a somewhat fringe pastime. As for use in Clubs... I have seen more trouble and injury caused by alcohol than poppers.
Why don't we just live and let live? |

I'd be delighted to live and let live. But careless use of poppers has ruined some sessions for me. And some of those users had been warned that I don't react well to them (politely) and went ahead and used them anyway.
If this swinging malarkey is abut mutual pleasure it has to be about mutual respect or at the very least mutual courtesy. |

I'm lucky enough to have met a man who makes me orgasm over and over, stick to that as have no desire to give myself a headache or any other side affect.
I don't drink much either for the same reasons x |
