They're all my favourite authors too, I even named my cat Atticus after Atticus Finch.
I also love; Neil Gaiman, James Patterson, Kazuo Ishiguro and few chick lit authors , |

I did "...Mockingbird" In school too.
Piction, top reads have to be A Christmas Carol- I read it every year, also The Box of Delights..likewise. I have several landmark books from my childhood I can read over and over, mainly because they are good stories well told. Hawkmoor; The Devil On The Road; The Black Arrow; The Outsiders.... And I collect Robin Hood books, read those regularly too.
I tend to be more adventurous with non-fiction. Can really recommend "The Way Of The Paceful Warrior" by Dan Millman. Also lots of history, bushcraft and books on magic and paganism.
Guilty pleasure? I DO like an Andy McNabb every once in a while!! |

Don't laugh but my best books as a child were the Famous Five. Pure escapism with lashings of ginger beer. I would read and re-read them for hours. They were paperbacks and I can remember them falling apart I read them so often.
I love books now as an adult. I inherited hundreds of English history and war history books from my dad.
Reading is one of the most valuable skills you can teach a child |

"I'm a Stephen king fan. Favorite book is the Dark Tower Series...the drawing of the three "
I like Stephen King but sometimes find his books a little hard to get started on (hope that makes sense lol). He has a distinctive way of writing. The Bachman books are superb. Especially The Long Walk |

That's a shame because the language is what made it for me. I lived on a rough council estate and they were of another class. It was a different world. |

I've read lots of Terry Pratchett. As a child I remember becoming engrossed in a Pilgrims Progress and the Weathermonger. Now I read anything I get my hands on. Easy readers for the tired brain moments. I'm reading The Savage Detectives at the moment |

I'd rather hold the actual book than have it on a tablet. I like the feel and smell of the books.
The kindle ad used to bug me when that lass said she was laughing at "the book" she was reading. It's not a book. Yes I am being pedantic too. |

There are some really good recommendations on this thread, I would like to add a few authors myself (and reiterate a few)in the field of fantasy / sci fi and horror;
Simon R Green, David Eddings, Terry Brooks, Terry Pratchett, Peter Clines, Graham Masterton, Brian Lumley, Kelley Armtrong, Kim Harrison...to name one or two!
I love reading both the actual book and on an ereader |

I have a few ebooks on my phone ( used mainly for when my kids have medical appointments and I'm sat outside the room waiting for them ) but you can't beat a real book, I've just passed a book on to my daughter that I had as a child. It is 30 years old give or take and it's immaculate. |

I am a big reader, I have been known to take a book into work and read a page whilst doing the job.
I love Terry Pratchett, Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, Spike Milligan, and quite a few biographies.
As for recomending a book. If you like war stories, forgotten voices of the falklands. Life story we were young and careless - Lauraent Fignon. To name but a few. |

I love real books so I didn't think I'd get on with a Kindle at all. However, I adapted quickly and love my Kindle too now. It's also saving me space on my bookcases because I read a lot and I have dreadful trouble getting rid of books. |
