would recommend 12 years a slave it's great film.
wolf of wallstreet is a better film imo but be prepared, it's a few hours long but not a boring part throughout.
I've also watched lone survivor and that's a good film too.
another to watch is American hustle, first five mins you'll be asking wtf is this then it turns into a really good story.

Thought The Butler put he message over better.
Other than learning there were some free black people stolen into slavery and it was hard/impossible to get back out again, there was nothing to add. Been done a thousand times tbh.
