There are quite a few but the "quote" that always makes me smile was made to me by a colleagues girlfriend.
We met at a company function, he was off doing something and I went up to say hello as she looked lost.
After intoducing myself she beamed at me and shook my hand. She then said, "H always talks about you. He says your one of the nicest people he's ever met and you always smell nice. H said you'd be absolutely stunning if you were slim!" 
That leads onto a quote I use a lot myself: no good deed goes unpunished!  |

Of course I lie to people. But I lie altruistically - for our mutual good. The lie is the basic building block of good manners. That may seem mildly shocking to a moralist - but then what isn't?
