I would love to take a holiday on my own but feel sure my family would worry and friends/work mates think I am odd.
I would just live a few days in a hot climate pref naked just completely chilling out with my iPod and kindle.
Has any lady dared to do so? |

yes I have and loved it! 3-4 times. Of course family and friends worry but you are only a phone all away... Go for it! You only live once  |

If I do not do anything on my own, then I do not do anything at all!
However, sun/beach holidays do nothing for me.
City breaks on my own or camping with the dog, yes, definitely.

Statistically you will be safe if you holiday on your own. If you want a hedonistic type of holiday I would recommend Gran Canaria specifically Maspolomas or Melonares Both these resorts have up market hotels and access to naturist beaches and I have found them to be friendly and safe, |

Thank you, I am not worried about not safe as there is good and bad folk wherever you go and I am not one of these people that leave their common sense at passport control!!

I've done it three times. It was a package holiday to the same hotel in Rhodes each time but I luvd it. You can come and go as you please, make friends or not as the mood takes you. It certainly boosted my confidence. Wish I could afford to do it again this year, might be just what I need.
Book it first then tell family and friends, that's what I did. Thie will avoid the 'Oh don't go on your own' comments or even worse the 'I'll come with you' offers

An elderly female relative goes off on her own, so Id never let others worries or scorn stop me, only inform me. If there is unusual danger or something to know, then cool. Otherwise, Im changing fab location for a while. Enjoy yourself as much as you can. |

Been to Corfu, France, Germany, Southern Spain, Gibraltar, Singapore, Poland and Australia alone. I love it. Especially if I can drive around on my own. |

I don't do hot or beach holidays as such but I really wouldn't go anywhere if I had to go with someone else.
I spent seven weeks driving around New Zealand on my own and people were worried about me going on my own at first. They soon forget and got on with their lives though.
Last year I did need a week away on my own and I took myself off. I told people where I would be though and they turned up half way through.
If you tell them make sure you tell them you really want to be alone.

I have been to marakesh a few times before years ago but I was with a male partner, but this year I want to go there but I will be alone, so worried about the safety aspect a bit |

Used to do this regularly - once packed a rucksack on the Friday night, went to Piccadilly station in Manchester & bought an interrail ticket & buggered off round Europe on my tod for a few weeks. Met some interesting people and had a good time. Taught me how to be self sufficient and to be aware of my surroundings.
Also went to Egypt & Jordan on my own, but that was an organised trip so rather different. Its great, forces you to be open to meeting new people. |

i was left in Ibiza on my own by a freind...i too had a great time. Didnt find any nudist beaches....just have to go back now mmmm |

My two go to their dads for a lot of the school holidays so considering some time out in October booking flights and accommodation seperatly. Or even a long weekend just some warmth, relaxation and I really want to try a naturist beach/ hotel |

Used to in my younger days before family. Definitely would again. It's a whole different experience. You get to chat to lots more people than you would if you were with others.
Last time I did this I only went to Nice but ended up joining in a wedding reception at the hotel I was staying at. The family sent a bottle of champagne over to the table I was sat at. I was being entertained by four English guys - shop fitters.... Dancing chatting laughing and a bit of fun with a couple of them . That was about 8 years ago.
Doing things like that make me feel very alive - I'm sure some of you appreciate what I mean |

I haven't read the whole thread, but all I'd suggest is to stick to countries you have some safety with / similar laws and customs to our own country, where you will be respected as a female , as an equal. Our immediate European neighbours have a lot to offer me thinks. One life live it

Yes the 3 i went to were called....
1.Cala Conta beach, the nudist area is over on the left side with steep rocky area behind. The middle and right side of the beach are normal swimwear.
2. Ez Cavalett beach, left side of beach is normal swimwear, the centre area of the beach is nudist and said to be swingers area, you do see some couples going off into the sand dunes behind from time to time, and at the right end of the beach is a gay/lesbian nudist beach. I stayed in the centre bit, lol.
3. Las Salinas beach has a small nudist area somwhere in the middle.
There are others but i did'nt visit them, wanted to visit Playa den Bossa beach but never got round to it, maybe next time.

Ive been to Greece,Turkey,France,Switzeland and Italy on my own and the one beach holiday i would say was brilliant was greece,. No nudist beaches but very welcoming people and i met a whole bunch of new mates , great time.  |

Ive been lucky re the single room supplement, I never paid it re turkey or greece , just need to shop around a bit. |

The first time i went to greece, i got to my apartment and thought "wtf have i done" ? then it was "sod this" got myself showered and changed and went out to explore. Met people about an hour later and spent the week partying with them. fabulous |

As i stood on the ferry pulling out of Harwich that Saturday evening, with no plan & nowhere to stay i thought "WTF have i done?" but it was fine. Spent a day bumming round Paris before catching a train to Marseille & the South Coast. Managed to meet 3 Irish lads with cheap French wine, so spent the night partying before finding a campsite on the beach
There's nothing to be afraid of except your own ability to hold yourself back. |

Without sounding rude and or anti social its more for me to go and unwind completely than to get chatting to lots of folk. I have had beach holidays with friends which have just involved baking by the pool all day and I am quite happy with my own company although a bit of male/ couple company in the evening wouldn't go amiss!!
I couldn't do a coach journey to Spain I would think that Brendan from coach trip would appear at any moment or I would land up sitting next to the smelliest person on earth! |

Both, at the local co-op travel shop , they will hunt through for the best deals, and ive booked online to and got some cracking deals over the years. |

Thanks, I think I am going to plump for a few days in the Oct half term book the flights for a Monday and return on a Friday as they are a bit cheaper. Then source a room!! Excited now!! |
