Somewhere in North Norfolk

My lovely new bed has arrived and the mattress is too deep for my sheets. I'm going to have to buy new ones. Drat!

In Your Bush

Put a pile of books on each corner to weigh it down a bit.

no matter

Make sure you check the depth before buying new. Fitted sheets tend to be skimpy at best,my mattress is so deep I now just use a king size flat sheet.

John Lewis I believe do deep ones but im not ready to buy new yet.

Measuring isn't my forte either. I'm always buying the wrong size curtains, curtain poles and other important things like sofas

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

John Lewis do indeed have deep fitted sheets. Wait until the sales for them. In the meantime you are going to have to let some seams out.

In which case I'll just start a thread moaning about it.

Let me know where you got the sheets from, we have a 10 inch mattress all the sheets I buy don't fit

Dunelm mill. I buy the extra deep fitted sheets from here as my mattress has a two inch topper on too. About £12 for king size...

My mattress is 12" deep and I bought a deep sheet but it only pulls down half way on the mattress and its a real nail breaker to put on.

Fitted sheets come in different depths? I often wondered why the corners of my mattress curl up.....

Try the well-known auction site. They often have all the dimensions including depth of the sheets and you can get Egyptian cotton at good prices.

O o O oo

Tell me about it, we had the same problem, even worse was the new bed was so high we have to take a run up at it and do a Fosbury Flop just to get on it !

It wasn't that high in the shop

Put the mattress in your washing machine on a hot wash to shrink it a little!

Hey presto! Your sheets will fit like a glove!!

**forum insurance disclaimer!!

This method will possibly not work.

You also may suffer great expense buying a fuck off huge washing machine that a mattress will fit in.

It may be cheaper to buy new sheets!

I'd stand no chance then.

I was at a hotel in Texas years ago where I had to rock climb up the bed to get in.

Brigadoon

You can get a flat sheet and grab the corners into a bunch and put an elastic band around each one, it's a temporary fix if you don't fancy sewing elastic in.
