Mine is, i think, just an illusion....the real thing did a runner and took my self esteem with ut...but the bastard left my self loathing behind to face the music.....grrrrrr (  |

Mine comes and goes too.
It also depends on the environment and what sort of confidence you mean. I'm absolutely confident in some ways and much less so in others.
I'm more accepting of myself than I have been in the past. I know where I want to be though, and I am confident I can get there. |

It depends on the situation .... I can be incredibly confident at times...... but I do have moments where I'm eaten up with insecurities.... like most people I imagine x |

A wise man taught me that confidence comes from within, not from others. For every one person who will build you up and make you feel good there is another who will knock you down.
You only have to read the threads on here recently to see how many people are adversely affected by other people's opinions of them.
To be confident you have to believe in and care about yourself. Confidence like being sexy is a state of mind.

I agree with these sentiments. The context of the environment in question has much to do with my answer to this. In a couple of weeks time I will be performing in an AmDram production and am sufficiently confident about doing so. In other aspects of my life at the moment my confidence is subterranean. |

Had bags of confidence before my latest split and at the moment it's all gone. Sadly I let a man get to me this time. Won't be doing the emotion thing again in a hurry! I'll get my mojo back soon enough I hope.. |

I am confident enough not let anyone talk me down. If they do that means they have a lack of confidence somewhere deep in them and they use that kind of attitude to compensate it or hide it. If someone try to pull your confidence down they have a problem not you. Everybody is special in some way and no one is superior to another. |

Over the years I've gained self confidence. I'm fairly happy with my appearance & challenge myself by doing things that in the past would have worried me like presentations, public speaking & performing in productions |

It's good to keep a distinction between self confidence and self-esteem. Each can influence the other, but they're as separate as anything can be, in the world of wonders, our minds.
My confidence is good, and I appreciate feeling unsure sometimes, as it's good feedback. I like to push boundaries, including my own, and also to have a life of adventure, as it keeps me fresh, bright and dynamic rather than stuck. |

I have enough to be very comfortable with it and had it since about 15. I always wonder though with some who say they have it but when you chat its really lacking for some reason. |

I used to have loads but not so much these days. Think this site hasnt helped me as there are quite a few people on here that seam to take joy in bashing others confidence. Hopefully will get it back one day |

I lost it when the wife said she wanted to split. I am the over the marriage, but my confidence is shot.
