"very inspirational
4 WI women training to do Barbs Race in CA - a 70 mile triathalon.
trained for just 12 weeks....makes me realise my training for my 5k is a bit poor lol
62 days to go "
Your training is not poor it is sensible and you'll be fine
The idea of training totally unfit people to do a 1/2 ironman in 12 weeks is a fucking ridiculous idea, that is so stupid it is almost dangerous.
Amazed only one of them picked up an injury. And fair play to the woman that beat the 8 1/2 hour cut off, but that will almost certainly be down to a natural pre-disposition to endurance sport rather than the "training" done on the programme. |

"I take my hat off to anyone having a go. Better than my tragic effort to date.

And this is why I am trying not to be overly critical. But I saw the one last week, where the woman crashed out of the bike ride, this week one picked up a knee injury and that is down to being ill prepared. People die doing endurance sport, and being so under-trained and under-prepared is dangerous.
The reality is that 2 of them finished 4 hours behind the cut off and they wouldn't have been allowed to even start the bike, never mind the run if they hadn;t had a TV crew following them.
Hats off to them for what they did, just having the fortitude to keep going deserves respect. |
