So I have an inter_iew tomorrow for a support worker role.
I always stumble on questions that I can otherwise answer perfectly fine if someone else asked me them
I'm absolutely cacking myself! I have dyspraxia and it's always difficult for me in social situations, especially with inter_iews, and I think that's what holds me back from landing a job. I've had help to try and getting my inter_iews skills up to scratch but always fail |

Have you told them abut the dyspraxia? It might help the inter_iewer have more of an understanding and if they're a good inter_iewer they'll help you. Good luck tomorrow! |

If you're qualified and you come across as competant and know your stuff, what you see as shortcomings shouldn't be an issue.
If you feel it becoming an issue in the inter_iew then inform them of it rather than hide it and get flustered. |

The manager who was there when I filled out the form and told him about the dyspraxia has now left but I will mention it again tomorrow! Thank you! |

I don't need qualifications as training is provided, it's always been an issue |

I am afraid I only have a basic understanding of dyspraxia. I would suggest not being afraid of silence and take your time to think of your answers. Depends what type of inter_iew they are running? Formal and basic with questions about work history, goals etc. or situation based "When have you?" "What was the outcome". Just when answering think if you were the employer what would you want to hear. I'm on my second and final inter_iew so very good look miss. |

As someone who has employed and inter_iewed hundreds over the years my suggestion to anyone who feels nervous going to an inter_iew is this;
Bear in mind the person holding the inter_iew has a problem they need to resolve. The vacancy represents that problem. The inter_iewer is hoping for you to be the solution to their need.
So the onus is on the inter_iewer. The applicant should go with the mindset "I know I can do the job advertised. Let's see if this employer is worthy of me".
I'm not suggesting arrogance in any way. Merely a mindset of "they need me, can they entice me" on the part of the applicant.
Hope this helps someone. |

Also, as someone who regularly inter_iews and employs others, don't overthink the questions.....sometimes, they may sound like a trick one due to being quite simple, but trust me they aren't, sometimes we just want to know that the person understands what position they have applied for!
PM me if you want some tips! Best of luck x |

I was always told if you ever get nervous before an inter_iew, try to picture the people asking the questions are naked!!!
Didn't help me last time I had an inter_iew, as the fella was about 30 stone and looked like Fred Elliot from corry |

I once inter_iewed a woman who was so shy brought notes with her to read from. She explained at the start that she is fine in situations but that nerves get the better of her, especially for a job she really wants.
We gave her the job because she answered everything well and the shyness wasn't actually an issue.
Go in prepared and they will know. |

*shudder*
I've recently done a lot of inter_iews and was always worried I would bump into someone from here.
To the OP, show enthusiasm, think about your answers, don't be afraid to ask the inter_iewers to clarify if you don't understand a question, and watch your body language. Smile, sit up straight, and don't wave your arms around. |

take a bottle of water in with you and sip before answering a question, give yourself a little time to get your thoughts straight. if they ask why you are doing it, just say you are nervous and have a dry mouth
you may also repeat the question back to them before answering |
