I need a lot of sleep, I always have needed 8 hours and then when my Endometriosis kicked off I've ended up needing more.
The last 3 nights for various reasons I've not slept for more than about 4 hours (I look like I haven't as well!)
How much sleep do you need to function? |

I think I need more than I do, if that makes sense. My medical condition makes me tired so I go to bed early as I'm nodding off but then I'm wide awake at 3am
I need to stay up later but that's not easy. Maybe I need to find someone to keep me occupied till midnight |

Donna needs a good 6 to 8 hours but I'm happy with 3 or 4 hours a night, but Donna tends to have a better nights sleep if I go to bed with her, once she is asleep I'll come back downstairs until about 3am then go back upstairs to bed |

I sleep when i can, if i lose more than 3 hours at night because of my daughter i often catch up through day. I used to think that going back to bed was lazy and a waste of a day, until i was i had too or i would never be able to function as well as i should... Ruby |

I like to get 8 hours a night, and I like a lie-in now and then too on weekends.
I actually dont need 8 hours, I can function quite well on 6 hours a night for long periods if necessary.
I once did 7 weeks only getting an average of about 5 hours a night.
I can also go without sleep for prolonged periods and still function, I do the odd weekend with little or no sleep, and sometimes do 96 hours without sleep on courses.
Not recommended for many people, but if you get plenty of sleep after I find it do-able. |

The average adult needs 8 hours continuous sleep to re charge the body and brain.
Our body clock re charges our cells and immune system all the time, between 2am and 4 am our body is at its lowest, our sub conscious keeps our organs ticking over, a bit like a car ticking over at traffick lights, the majority of people will die between 2 am and 4 am.
We can all survive on much less sleep, even 3 hours, but for a limited period of time.
Lack of sleep affects moods, health, immune system and brain function.
Which in turn affects our safety, relationships and health.
As in everything, some people need less, some people need more. |
