No cure except February .

On a serious note if this continues see your GP and ask to have your thyroid function checked.

Lots of people seem to suffer like this and it is a recognised ailment, SAD, not sure on the advice to help though.

A week of alpine sunshine - go skiing!!! It's bloody brilliant for that, all that reflected light gives you a real good dose. I must get another full spectrum bulb too, keep forgetting, they help..........

I have a thyroid problem but that's an all year round thing. I get down in January too and convinced I have SAD but it's not been as bad this year.

Get out in the fresh air, it does make you feel better. Ive put on weight too but went back to Weight Watchers on Wednesday so that'll help - I hope

The days are getting longer so just look forward to Spring

I'm usually like this after Xmas and in jan. no money for another two weeks depressing after all the joy of December

But this year it's not quite as bad as I have something to look forward to in ten days. It has helped

However I think I may go low in feb so gonna make sure I do lots of nice things

Sex, exercise, go somewhere new for a wall, put in some good music and sing and dance your heart out . Smile

X

What does 'lately' mean here? Were you feeling this way before Christmas?

If you are intending to see a doctor it might help them to know whether for example you are constantly down, or if there are peaks and troughs. And if they are, what do these look like, what patterns are emerging to indicate potential trigger points. Information like this also helps you manage what's going on more effectively. If you drink, bear in mind that alcohol is a depressant anyway and reduce intake accordingly.

I reiterate what's been said already about the benefits of exercise. But do things that exercise the mind as well. Music, reading, that sort of thing.

lately meaning the last few weeks since the new year

the feeling comes and goes, i can feel tired at times not wanting any contact with people, i become irritable and snappy

but i must stress that it isn't all the time, just have these moments

i have two dogs so i get the exercise but when i go out with them i just feel that i want to get it over with and get home where before i would be out with them for a good 3 or 4 hours on my days off

im not suicidal or anything like that just don't feel my usual self, maybe when the days start getting longer the feeling will pass

Christmas should carry a health warning. You are probably suffering from the Christmas come down. Months of build up for a few days of festivities and then.......nothing. Personally I make a big effort to notice the days getting longer and looking for signs of the coming spring. Works for me anyway. Hope you feel better soon xxx
