Does anyone know why pussy is a term for female genitalia?
I remember having one of those 'you show us yours if we show you ours' moments between my mates and some girls we knew, to prove we had pubes growing, and one of the girls appeared to have nothing while other had a lot, we used to then take the piss out of the girl who had a lot by miaowing at her.
Now I always assumed it was because she was 'furry' down there as I hadn't ever heard female genitalia referred to as pussy at that time (in fact I hadn't even heard the word genitalia either ), so when I did start to hear the term I didn't gave it any thought, until now. |

A bloke sees his ex-wife with her new lover and decides to wind him up so he shouts over "How's the second-hand PUSSY?"
Quick as a flash, her lover replies "Great! After the first three inches, it's like brand new." |

"puse is old norse for pocket or pouch and referred to women in general originally "
I did actually look on wikipedia before I posted the question, but I went straight to the genitalia reference, and missed that under etymology it had
* Old Norse, puss (pocket)
* Old Saxon puse (vulva)
* Old English pusa (bag)
It reminds me of when i heard some guy refer to a woman being so turned on that she was wetter than an 'otter's pocket' |

"Why is a cock called a cock or any of the other names its called "
Well I think that one is fairly self explanatory otherwise I would have added that to the question.....because it's always up first thing in the morning |

Actually that wasn't the self explanatory answer I had in mind at first, I assumed normally it just came from 'cock' being a symbol of male-ness. That alternative meaning was meant as a joke, but now I'm actually wondering if I've stumbled onto something more truthful |
