"I won't go into too much detail re how the samples are collected. Suffice to say I've just collected my first two samples. 4 more to go.
Necessary but yeuk."
Are you doing this for reassurance or was you advised? |

Having lost a very close male relative to this disease , the screening programme is definitely a good thing!
And men in general (not saying all) are not very good at going to see a GP about their health. |

No women can get it too. I may be wrong , but I believe that genetically within a family (familial heredity) it's more likely to affect the male line.
But as it can affect anyone, it's always worth getting checked out!

Good luck "

I had to look this up. Looks like men and women. The starting age in England appears to be 60. |

"What age should you get your prostrate checked? By a doctor I mean
Ask him/ her. It'll depend on many factors your GP will be better placed to evaluate than us."
Right ok. I will see what he says. Got no problem myself as far as I know. |

"I had a sigmoidoscopy many years back. It wasn't too uncomfortable."
Was asleep for the procedure so didn't feel a thing, but the stuff I had to drink the night before and subsequent reaction was an experience I hope to never repeat! |

I have tried to erase the experience from memory so can't remember the name of what I had, needless to say it tasted foul and can only be described as laxatives on steroids!! |

just had mine done..
usually some of us old gits in our 50's may have an enlarged prostate which can make one pee more at night, and the flow etc is not as strong also..
blood test first then a quick check by the gp..
tablets for 3 months..

I'm half Scottish on my mums side. So when Scotland go independent next year and I get dual nationality, will I be sent mine at 55? |
