I have just received the paperwork for a restraint training course I have to do for work. I have done the course about 3 times already with other companies and never before been asked to take in a picture of a family member for a photo share activity. I do not want to do this as I don't see what a picture of my family member has to do with restraint training.
Would you do it or not and what reasons for either doing it or not do you have ? |

How very odd. I don't like the sound of that at all

No I wouldn't.
I take great pleasure in resisting icebreaker type activities and even greater pleasure in refusing to take part in all forms of role play.
I'd be happy to be restrained however.. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I have never done that as an ice-breaker activity for people. I sometimes make people choose a picture as they walk in but I wouldn't ask them to expose their family.
The ice-breaker might be to make you think about how you would restrain that particular family member and how you would want others to restrain him/her if restraint became necessary. That would put you all in the realm of "these are real people with families, treat them with respect and dignity" before the course goes into full flow.

Don't you pull that butter wouldn't melt look. You're not too big for me to have you over my knees.

"They probably want a family member pic, so you are not tempted to sit on their face to restrain them. "
Oi cheeky fooker
I'm liking the idea of taking yours or Tina's in though

I have the feeling that Lickety is on the right track with you having to consider the dignity and safety of the person you're restraining insofar as the trainer might be asking you 'what if it were your child/partner' type of question. |

Could we get a composite of Tina and Ryan in a wedding day picture, age it and you can say it's your parents on their wedding day?

I can't see why they would require you to take a family picture in? Strange....
I would take a picture of one of my pets but not of my family |

As a compromise, could you take an old/unrecognisable picture of yourself along?? People might assume it was a younger sister and so avoid you having to go through an open challenge? |

I'm going to take a pic of a stranger off the net and pass them off as my sister that I don't have |

Honestly, we all have pics on our phones, screensaver's and usually can't wait to bore people with our holiday snaps. As soon as we are asked to provide a photo for some reason we get all defensive...
What are you worried about, that there may be a sexual deviant in the room.....? |

Have done loads of restraint training, C&R, MPI, Team Teach etc and have never come across this.
What was the justification behind the photo share session?
Find this very odd |

Perhaps the person running the course realises that people have to attend regularly (as is obvious from other peoples posts) and so is trying something different. Stop being difficult and take in a bloody photo. |

Well obviously, you would have to age it considerably. We are both very youthful in our looks |

Are you worried that other people in the room won't believe that the attractive people in the pics are related to you

i was told as part of my dementia training i needed to bring in photo's of family and objects which meant sommething to me. was also told to prepare to open up about my emotions as it was group therapy
i refused to do it, if i wanted counseling id go for it privately, who i choose to open up to about my past is MY choice.. i never chose directly to work with the colleagues,, we were all selected to do a job.
