I read both the perfect man and perfect woman threads. It made for some interesting reading!
My thoughts out of all of this is how much of this is driven by media and social influence and how much is driven by what we actually want?
Also, is fair to seek "perfection" when we maybe far from perfection ourselves?

teenage girls and boys will probably be more influenced by the medias visual of perfection
like it or not it`ll have influenced us all at some point
but the media isnt the only influence in peoples lives |

perfection for me, is not for someone else.
i dont look for physical perfection, as it does not exist.
the perfect partner is someone that is prepared to compromise as much as you are to enable your particular relationship to work.
physicality and looks only count at the start of it. |

Theres nothing wrong with seeking perfection, we are all free to make our own choices in life.

Just a thought...
Even though we're only expressing it, aren't we still looking for some if not most of the traits that would make someone perfect? Similar to having preferences here on Fabs? |

Nobodies perfect, but if ever I see a woman I want badly enough, but consider her above my station, then I'm the kind of guy who will seek to improve so as to raise my game, to the point I might get a shot at her. |

That said, it amuses me that people use it as an insult on here.

Often in discussions where somebody becomes defensive about looks/weight/spelling/lifestyle etc. etc. - then throw in the 'We can't all be perfect' slur.
It's intended as an insult but is usually a smokescreen for insecurities. |

You might think so but I (m) can honestly say that my tastes have changed throughout my 30's. or maybe my tastes are the same and its just my expectations that have changed!  |

That's what I was saying really, when you've been around a while and experienced life with different people, you come to know what you'd really like from someone. That's not to say you can get it though! |

As others have said, I don't seek perfection - but the characteristics in my idea of it are certainly what I know **I** respond to most.
So, no, not about media/society at all for me.
And one very strong aspect could engage me and 'trump' all the others! Well, almost all anyway......
