No but I'm lucky that I have good strong nails that grow quickly.

Recently mine are weak, breaking and it's winding me up. I'm used to having lovely nails but they're awful at the minute

It's the only way for me. I can't maintain decent nails with either of my 2 jobs so they are a treat for special occasions.

I'm sure I've read or someone has told me that acrylic nails will make your weaker. Why don't you go into a nail bar and ask what's the best thing to put on them?. When my Thyroid was too high and my nails were brittle I just kept them short and painted them. They still looked ok to everyone else. Good luck

This is what makes me question whether to do it or not. My nails are usually lovely, but recently crap. When I do get them done though, something always happens to stop me getting infills and then my nails are ruined and I have to start again. I love how they look. It's so confusing haha

I've had acrylic nails for about 15 years. Yes nails underneath are buggered but if you don't intend to take them off they're great-polish doesn't really chip on them so they look decent all the time!

Deviant City

never had them on my own nails. I can let mine grow naturally, but filing them goes through me, so I tend to bite them. Horrible habbit

To be honest mine look crap at the moment so thank god getting them done in my lunch break tomorrow!!! Why don't you wear glue on nails less harsh then false nails that you have to maintain

As has been said, false nails do no favours to your natural nails.

So you have problems with your nails? Decide what the problem is and buy the relevant treatment. Sorted!

My nails have always been weak and easily split. Had acrylic for more years than I care to mention.

Recently bought myself a gel kit for about £50, saved a fortune

I had acrylic nails for a few months.Decided to buy all you need to do it yourself from a really good website that also does tutorials. Tried it a couple of times doing the infills and put on a new set. Still need to practice but always best to soak them off. Does make nails weak due to the chemicals. But did look really good too.

no matter

I dont really know the difference between acrylic and other.. I have my thumb nails covered in some stuff they blob on and smooth over but they never speak so i dont know what they use .

Seems ok to me . I have a nasty split in my left nail need to keep it protected and the right one splits cos of the computer I leave it to grow right out leaves no damage that I know of .

I had been getting acrylic nails for years... my own nails were a disaster..

October last year I decided to give them a rest from acrylics and got a shellac...

My own nails are fine now and a decent length and stronger.

No plans to go back to acrylics.
