Happens a lot..I'm not even going to get started on what I think of social services but I there are plenty of times they get it wrong abd even after a parent has been cleared by a court, social services still think it's oKay to put the same kids on the at risk register.
Most are half wit jobsworths. |

I started to watch it but it was too difficult. I can't even begin to know how it would feel to have your child taken away from, how I do imagine it feels is just too heartbreaking for me to watch the programme. |

Pretty much my view. The ones they should be watching get ignored and those who do everything they can and should are watched like hawks!
I feel the same about some health visitors and nursery nurses! I repeat some not all!

Believe me the ones that should be being watched are being watched
Despite some failings I believe our child protection system is very good |

"Most are half wit jobsworths. This is soooo not true! "
Sorry but in my experience it's how it is. I had them in my life for a long time... And they just pissed me off.. never doing as they should. I'm currently awaiting compensation from them... Will be my second payout.
When you were brought up in care you see the other side.. the side others think isn't there. The fact is there are very few good social workers. |

Yeah such bad social workers, health visitors, nursery nurses, children's nurses Drs etc. Some and I say some of you can only dream of what they see on a daily basis. People make mistakes fact!!! We are only human at the end of the day! But the fact is every child that has a NAI should be fully investigated and the child taken to a place of safety until parents proved innocent. As unfortunately some parents do abuse there children. |

And normally....
those type of parents dont "normally" go direct to a hospital or doctors to report a problem. These parents did. |

I do not doubt that when it is working with the right people it works well. Its those wasted hours on the ones who do not need it that takes away from those that do and those tragic cases which just get missed |

No they shouldn't just take kids.. it's the most awful thing in the world to have a child ripped from your arms.. just because you go ask someone in authority for advice. No amount of apologies can ever ever make up for that feeling...
Worse still when your cleared but they think it will be in the childs best interest to be on the risk register.. Despite being proved by medical evidence and a court that you didn't do anything and it was a genuine medical condition....
So everyone around you thinks no smoke without fire...
I'm sure there may be some good ones out there... In fact the one that helped me get them out of ny life was my 11th one in 2 years as I kept demanding a new one.. the 11th one was great.. But was a mother and grandmother herself.. so maybe that made the difference..
But for me they will always be interfering useless busy bodies who are on a power trip. |

Once a bone profile is done and proved to be ok rhen a skeletal survey which comes back with further breaks sorry but without shadow of doubt that child should be in a safe place away from parents. It's not just one dr that makes the decision they go for second and third opinions so they do get it right. |

Got any statistics about those waste hours?
Usually A lot of support / assessments and meetings take place before child protection plans are put in place
Only in emergencies are children removed |

Maybe so but i dont think they do enough medically to prove whats causing it . I understand that some children need that protection but those parents who are innocent are up against a mine field trying to fight their cases. |

See I disagree.. But also I recently was left no choice but to report something to social services because I'd seen first Hand the abuse a child was suffering.. And there involvement has left the child in a much worse situation...
There is just no consistency... What one social worker will see as okay... Another will jump down your throat at...
Having a severely disabled child means I'm always stuck with their "assistance" .. But trust me it's easier to sort stuff your self. Although she's 18 this year and moves to adult services. Praying they will be more use. |

C took our son to the hospital after cracking his head open the first thing my son said to the nurse was Daddy did it. I would have completely understood if we got a knock from social services investigating.
The one time we would have expected it lol
On the other hand a nursery nurse DEMANDED i didn't give my kids their tea and go to the doctors because she felt i was depressed (behavioural issues and being heavily pregnant/just given birth I was exhausted) and was going to top myself over the weekend! But waited til middle of the night the following week to report to social services. |

I think that the friggin media should stop with all the scaremongering and concentrate on the hundreds of kids that are saved and not the ones that are very sadly missed. Looked after children numbers are at at their highest ever but there are no more social workers or no more foster carers!!!

at least an hour every fortnight i had them dictating what to feed my son where to take him where to live etc I had never been a threat to my son no unexplainable injuries. Just malicious allegations after a fall out!

I'm glad they are high lighting the plights of some parents. I'm sure the success stories go unnoticed.. But I guess If like me you have had negative experiences of them from 13 then you will not exactly be prepared to see anything but the bad that you experienced.
Being a child in a care home gives you a totally different perspective.. x |

Foster carers in my opinion or at least all the ones I know are much more than amazing. The fact that they will open their doors to any child any time of the day or night often having no idea what to expect makes them superstars in my book |

This was the area i worked in cali and i hope you get a good team supporting your daughter. There are some good schemes around and well run...And i know im slightly biased but sometime the main support teams are much better run than "private and religious based" care agencies....For which i have some horror stories. good luck to her and all she acomplishes |

Our grandchildren now live with us as an outcome of parents /drugs
They deserve the best and will get the best chances possible in our eyes but there are 10,000 families needed this year
What has happened to our society and family life |

"There is rarely smoke without fire its far better for the authorities to keep a watch on things than let another baby P happen. "
I don't mind them keeping a watch but they can be very heavy handed. And they get it wrong a lot. And it's so easy for someone to make something up... And they don't need much "evidence" to put two and two together to make five. |

Actually they get it wrong on a very small number of occasions as they have a procedure to follow. They are unbiased and take the well being of the children into account sadly if only the parents did the same it wouldn't be needed. I can understand many parents being bitter and unhappy that their poor childcare has come under scrutiny but people are hardly going to own up to being a bad parent are they. |
