I'm not fussed what job someone does or used to do. I do get a bit narked when some chap thinks being a soldier is all it needs to get a meet and makes it their only selling point, rather than trying to come across as a person with something else to offer.
They generally send me a pic of them cradling an SA80, inform me they are a soldier and horny and expect to go to the top of the pile.

When did veterans come into common usage in the UK? We seem to inherited it from the Yanks.
I don't think there was anything wrong with ex-servicemen and women, even if it was a bit clumsy. |

Blah blah blah when I was in the forces ( I was )blah blah and there I was section assault single handedly won the war blah blah....my SLR was much bigger than the modern day young pubs sa80  errr fancy a shag ?

athletes over 35 are called veterans in UK and have been since before USA became USA lol |
