"its not the dredded abobe one for the media player , if it is you will never get rid off it . sorry its a full wipe out of your hard drive "
Not necessarily! Agree and appreciate it's a really nasty one and not the easiest to get rid of either but doesn't necessarily require a full system format.
Depends if it's identified as as Rootkit or not and even if it was AVG (used to) not sure if they still have now got Rootkit scanners and removers on their site.

this one stops you running any anti virus soft ware , prevents you running your computer in safe mode and stops you installing new anti virus software . its a media player virus, had it and the only way to scrub it was a wipe out . |

Understand what your saying and agree that it might be the best option to wipe completely unless your prepared for a challenge. Encountered it in the past (on a friends PC) and beat it through a variety/combination of methods, a right pain though admittedly!
Deleting all auto runs, AV rescue disk, system restore and repair.
It worked! Took a bit of doing though, depends on how much time the OP is willing to invest or how prepared the system was in terms of restore points on the original OP's machine.
Either way it's a royal pain in the ass |
