"Both male and females?"

you can allergies to almost anything,a latex allergy is fairly common and is becoming more so for some reason,non-latex condoms are made from a similar material to the non-latex gloves used in hospitals/garages etc but are thinner to improve sensitivity, who knows in time whether lots of folks will become allergic to them as well?

with the moon n stars somewhere in gtr manc

I have been asked by medical staff if I'm allergic to latex - which is the gloves they mainly use and is the same material as what condoms are made from.

So yes, people can be and are allergic to condoms.

Dyserth, North Wales

Men and women can be allergic to condoms. whether its the latex or the spermicide.

However, there are latex free condoms available and there are spermicide free condoms available.

There are plenty of combinations for a guy or woman to find what combination works for them.

Anyone saying that they've tried them all are lying or can't be bothered to find out

Cannock

Once met a girl from another similar site to this and she was allergic to latex.

Got some latex free condoms from Boots especially for her, lol.

Most good chemists stock them now.

As an allergy suffer I can definitely confirm that people can be allergic to anything! And the smallest amount can trigger an attack. Always respect the other persons decision. If they are genuine they will carry condoms they are not allergic to. If not walk away.

"Yes, I'm awaiting an epipen for my latex allergy"

You should not have to wait for an epipen. Demand some from your GP. If he queries tell him/her to check the NICE guidelines. If you are admitted to hospital you would not be discharged unless you had two. Get a minimum of two from your GP. They are lifesavers!

Hmmm, wait a couple of days and pay £7.85 or pay £90?....

It's also advised that you carry two as epinephrine only works for around 20mins...

Ruby asked me to post this because she can't be arsed to find her phone (she's tired coz I made her do the washing up!)

After a fairly bad reaction to my Christmas tree she's decided that she may need one, she's just not been to the doctors yet....

My allergies came on suddenly. There is a big difference between an allergic reaction and anaphylaxis but if she feels more sensitive she needs to see her gp as the next reaction maybe more severe. Always carry pirion as well. The usual dose of 4g is not enough tho. 10 g is recommended at first symptoms and that can sometimes ward off the big attack and epipen use (and trip to hospital). Hope Ruby is ok x

If you need one the doc will do a script on the spot,if you can't go that route spending £90 to save 2 days could save your life!

ok, I now have my phone. I am off to the docs on Friday where I am sure she will prescribe me an epipen. My last reaction was to the Christmas tree and I have no recollection of about 30 minutes and my breathing was fun!

As for avoiding latex, when I use condoms I use latex free, my house is latex free (yes I have checked!) and I avoid food with Chitinise (sp) in.

It is awful. I'm definitely latex allergic, I've had that diagnosed,I think older artificial Christmas trees must contain latex.
