Are you allowed to claim child benefit or tax credits for a child that doesn't live with you or isn't under your care? I don't think you are but just after clarification. |

Funny you should post this, I've literally just received a letter from the Csa telling me my case has been closed because my daughter isn't living with her mum no more. She's 16 and has left school and is living with someone but her mother was still claiming child benefit and Csa. I'm due all my payments back and she isnow under investigation for fraud. It's all to do with the term parent with care. If the child doesn't live there anymore is in employment then no you don't have to pay. |

They are not asking about CSA but glad to hear you are getting some money back that you should of not been paying  |

ok being hypothetical here child still being a baby but is under the care of a foster parent can 1 of the biological parents still claim? I always though the benefits were to support the child not the parent. |

If the child was in foster care, then all benefits would stop going to the parents until the case as to why the child is there in the first place was resolved and returned back to the parents. Ruby |

I'm a single dad, the other only the ng that effects benefits is how much support the other parent pays, as in how much housing/council tax benefit they recieve, I work and my ex works , she pays 300 a month so I'm only entitled to child benefit, but with csa they deduct for how many days a week the children are with the other parent, my brothers csa payments went down when he started having them at weekend s |
