So is it? For me it's a huge turn on when somebody is not only gorgeous looking but super brainy as well. Take Brian Cox - mmmmmmmm! Don't mind if I do! |

I think they go hand in hand, i really find it hard to fancy someone unless I have had a good chat with them first. A witty spark does it for me every time. |

I hope it is, heh. I love using my brain, I find it hard to switch it off.
By the way, what's with all these kids wearing clothes with 'geek' or 'nerd' on them? Jealous people used to call me a geek as an insult, though it was always a poor one. |

It depends if they use their brains for good or evil purposes, would rather have a nice kind thick woman, than a clever manipulative one |

"I am beginning to find that being the double of George Clooney and having an IQ of 666 is a burden, perfection comes at a price "
I totally understand what you say. I would be perfect if I was not so humble. |

"
I'm sure that's not true... It's all relative though...
I've generally had very positive comments regarding my profile, but have also received one or two messages telling me I was up my own arse by writing a novel.
I am, but me. |

It's sexy. They just swapped places for the purposes of this thread. Normal service will be resumed shortly. |

This is so true and the opposite also applies; someone who initially seems very attractive becomes less so if they aren't intelligent or humorous (at least for me) |

"Sexybrain will be glad lol
But for me ive always been attracted to knowledgable men. "
Lol
Its generally understood that many of the things we find sexually attractive, hark back to our animal days where certain qualities bettered chances of survival, hence individuals who possessed these qualities were deemed to be the most eligible mates, it makes sense that intelligence would be deemed such a quality. |

I think it's all relative. The most intelligent people I know aren't sexy at all - outside of their fields they're pretty dull and lacking in social skills, or so full of their own importance they wouldn't notice normal mortals anyway.
Then there are people who chat clever, are incredibly social, but if you scrape the surface they're lacking in depth and not so clever as you first think.
For a relationship it matters. For a shag, not quite so much. |

Its interesting that people typically only have so much mental energy to invest, some minds are good at channelling it all into a small field and become very specialised, but lack skills outside their area of knowledge, whereas others spread theirs thinly and can be very flexible and social as a result, but lack depth.
Ideally, I think most want someone with a balance of the two. |

"Intellect and a mischievous sense of humour – now that does it for me every time…… "
Exactly - there is a higher incidence of asbergers and other social/communication difficulties among the most intelligent, hence the 'geek' label. Highly intelligent people can be very dull too.
I agree what you need is that playful quick wit - that combined with intelligence can be thrilling, and I would say Brian Cox seems playful - the thinking woman's crumpet!
But some people who are not intellectual at all can have that quick wit too, and I enjoy their company far more than a geek.

I easily get turned on by my OH just socially interacting with others, say in a pub. I think when you have that intellectual, dry quick wit it gives an air of confidence, especially if not used in a demeaning, smug way. |

Yes, I used to talk to a barrister and we had some wonderful verbal 'duels', that can be quite a turn on too. |
