If you or anyone else wanna rush off to turkey, they have now changed the visa,s .

From april you can no longer pay a tenner when entering the country, you have to apply well before hand by post/email etc. and its gone up .

Friends of ours did exactly that.

Seats on scheduled flights are your best bet.

The plane is going to a set place at a set time.

Long haul flights would rather sell cheap seats than have empty ones.

You can if you play it right, get some absolute bargains if you can be flexible on flights.

we book flights all the time.

if we get it right we get return tickets from ireland to uk for under £40, however, leave them to the last minute, we have seen them for nearly £200 each way

Yikes ! Okay thanks guys. We're toying with the idea for our honeymoon later in the year. We're kid free this weekend and I'm toying with doing a dry run

Doesn't have to be an airport mind. I think the plan is to go to nearest train station and take it from there

Used to do this in the 90's a lot, turn up with a case packed for random destinations and take whatever flight was available often didn't sit together on the plane but was always very easy to get a flight to pretty much anywhere at very reduced price.

Then after 2000 it stopped being cheap they wanted to charge extra for filling those last couple of seats, all airlines did the same at about the same time very annoying

Remember the days pre 9-11 when you could walk into an airport 20 minutes before your flight and get on a plane! I used to commute to Frankfurt it was as easy as taking a train back then.

Do you know I'm bored of playing travel agent lol. We just fancied the spontaneity of turning up to an airport / train station / ferry not knowing where we'd end up !

I'm 40 this year I wanna live dangerously before they hand me my Zimmer!

"Have we missed the boat then? "

Thought it was a pane you were after

Yes you have missed the plane on that particular version, thankfully the Internet has stepped in to help given about 3 days notice and a great deal of flexibility you can get online last minute'ish deals that simulate the old days not quite as good as walking into Heathrow and not knowing if you were going to Paris France or Paris Texas but you can still get some bargains.

Go for it and have fun.

Go to the ticket desk and see what is available, either expect to wait for a bit for a flight that will take you. Also expect that it could be pricey as well due to buying the ticket last minute.

Did that on my first college summer holiday, stuck my thumb out in Manchester with a back pack including very small tent and £80 in my pocket, spent a number of days standing in the rain not getting any lifts, and feeling pretty miserable, did some really bad jobs, digging ditches to washing up in restaurants, took lifts to wherever the driver was going and flew back in September with about £200 change. Bloody good summer
