Any of you gym regulars know of ways to over come the tight and painful feeling in your muscles when you've over done the weights the day before. Think I should have started off a little more slowly. Any recommendation greatly receive I'm in agony lol.

Either a very very cold bath (Ice even better if you can) or hot hot hot (as hot as you can)

Works for me!

I'm stretching and massaging but that's not working. Wasn't sure if it was hot or cold I should be applying. I'll try both. Lol. Thanks.

beginners will get DOMS, and bad ones regardless. i still get some big bad DOMS a few years into it

stretching after a gym sesh is good, recovery through supplements and diet, and just resting and getting a good nights sleep

Massage, stretch after a session and consume lots of protein. Doing weights basically make small tears in the muscle so some of the pain is this. Consume a lot of protein so they repair and rebuild adequately. L-glutamine is good for this also.

Before you start your workout just make sure yoy warm your muscles up. Plenty of stretching, and some light jogging to get the bloody flowing. In between workouts stretch as well. And lastly, once you've finished, just warm down. Light stretches and maybe a slow jog/uphill walk.

...that pain feels good though doesn't it. Get yourself some protein after the workout and rest.

Good luck with your training.

Try investing in a foam roller if you are planning on not having a long time to rest before sessions, the foam roller stretches hurt like hell but it really works the muscles so it is so much better than a massage. Results wise I mean, nothing better than a massage from a good looking lady!

After warming up just use light weights may be just your bar and do 3 sets of 10 for each exercise. Find this works for me.

After the gym do a ten minute yoga routine at home. Can get loads of them on YouTube
