Given that official statistics show that one in four people have mental health issues of some type, there are many in all walks of life. Therefore, I'm not surprised that there are many in the swinging world. There will also be many in married, non-swinging relationships, many dating and many single.

Some mental illnesses have profound effects on peoples sex-drives...

In fact for at least one illness it is one of the symptoms.

I would think that the stats must be somewhere close to the national 'average'. (though the stats are not accurate) Don't forget that you won't necessarily find out that kind of information from people we meet in other parts of life.

This is true...ive worked in a mental health setting. I agree OP, there is definitely a link to mental health and sexual promiscuity.

Less of the assumptions and stereo-typing please.

Not all people with mental health conditions are as you describe. Many you wouldn't even know had ever had a problem.

People with mental health issues are more likely to lie, cheat and drink excessive quantities of alcohol? Really?!

And wtf is an inpulsion?

Thank you for this amazing insight into my life and personality.

I suffer (or more pertinent, my loved ones suffer) from a mental illness and can assure you, you couldn't be further from the truth if you was making your sweeping generalisations from a different planet.

Mental health issues and many of the medications associated with them are far more likely to lower libido than increase the likelihood of promiscuity...of the 1 in 4 statistic the vast vast majority of that is mild to moderate depression. Severe mental illness such as bipolar disorder account for a miniscule percentage of problems...

So based on nothing more than your own opinion you make assumptions that folk who dally regularly have mental health issues.

Does that include yourself as based on amount of verifications you have you dally a fair bit too

The word you should have used was compulsion, and I think you are referring to people with addictions as opposed to people with mental health problems, though the two often go hand in hand, they are not exclusive. Sexual promiscuity can be due to sexual addiction, but not all "addicts" are the jobless benefit street style scroungers smoking and drinking kestral you suggest they are

Some mental health drugs actually increase libido...i know this as it has for me personally.

I read ages ago that depresed women are more likely to be promiscuous and that people with bi polar are as well.

It makes sense realy, they are more likely to have low self esteem and want attention from men. Someone who has a lot of confidence arent likely to be as bothered.

Agreed 100 %, mental health is a massive issue in modern society and spread across the whole demographic . This should not be ignored let alone judged by anyone. xx

Some not all may have Addictive personality its a escape from life.

People suffering from this get addicted to several things including drugs, alcohol, food, and sex.

There is no specific cause that leads to this . Poor coping skills can also lead to this disorder. Most people who cannot handle life problems in positive ways fall into addictions to escape life’s realities. Moreover, it is thought that people who produce higher levels of dopamine are more likely to suffer from this disorder.

Sexual, self gratification is one of the recognised signs of bi-polar, which to some extent most of us suffer from, as a clinical psychologist, so it would follow on a site designed for self gratification a fair proportion of people would exhibit some symptoms.

That you can read what has been written in response to your op on this thread and think it makes you right, and supports your claim, says far more about you than it does about the mental health of any other member of this site.

Like groundlessly claiming a large number of people on the site are liars, cheats, addicts, jobless and abuse alcohol? Like refusing to answer any questions asked regarding that statement and failing to back it up in any way?

Seems to me that you are the one with the bad attitude towards people and too much time on your hands.
