Been there, done it, got the tshirt.....
Made fantastic friends, had a ball and experienced some amazing things....but then there lots of things we take for granted (health care etc....)in England that you don't get elsewhere and met so many who've needed it...
So for me its a case of enjoy the best of both worlds if you can.......

Other than immediate family and work I have no commitments so it wouldn't be a thing really.
The biggest challenge would be me embracing another culture. |

Family is the only reason we have stayed here. We moved abroad twenty three years ago (USA then Oz) but Ju got awfully homesick. Every spare bit of time we have we go off on our travels. I love England but I could quite easily live elsewhere. |

As much as I hate this country, I couldn't even cope with moving up North. We have an extremely close-knit family and 200miles made me dreadfully homesick to the point of depression. If I could take my entire family with me, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

It was nice... Greenery, the area was up and coming, the locals were friendly... It just wasn't MY cup of tea. The weather was worse (which doesn't help my S.A.D), my ex became a selfish, lazy prick and work pretty much made it impossible for me to visit home and see my family.
As I said, I'd love to move (somewhere HOT though) but my family would have to come with me. |

I'm off at the end of the month to NYC. I have the job but no relocation so it's not the cheapest place to move to. However I don't think there is much in the UK I'll be missing and it's an opportunity to travel the US extensively. I've got an ex wife and 2 teenage kids I'm leaving here so that's tough, but the opportunity is too good to pass up |

"do you think England has anything to offer us now?
Sod all.....otherwise known as "cameron and osborne" "
ironically all this talk about closing doors on immigration which is ridiculous the tit for tat that would follow would mean no one could emigrate. |

"I've done the opposite and left family and friends to move to the UK 10 years ago. Would never move back, only been back to visit.
It is amazing how many people take this country for granted."
From an 'outsiders' point of view, what do you see that is good about it? |

My sister did when she was 19: moved to Italy and is living the dream. My children are adults living their lives and I'd miss them more than they'd miss me, but I'll retire in the next couple of years and I'm considering my options. |

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own.
No apologies, no excuses,
No one lean on, rely on, or blame.
The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.
This is the day your life really begins.

I (Mr) did it ten years ago.
Moved to Spain to escape the Bliar/Brown socialist hell hole that Britain had become, then after a few months (and the Madrid bombings) Spain elected Mr Bean's socialist twin brother
Thankfully I met my wonderful German lady and we now split our time between Germany and Spain.
Would I move back to Britain? No. When I go back on visits I'm always happier leaving than arriving.
The only mistake I made was not getting out of the EU altogether. |

Without question . As much as I love certain things about this country . Our freedom . Healthcare and erm let me think ... Weather ? No that's not it . Our government ... No not that ! .. Anyway the answer for me is simple
I'd go in a heartbeat !
My plan for the future (next 15 - 18) years is to buy a little condo in Thailand . Retire and lead a simple life . With an aim of doing some charity work ... I'll come back to the uk for 2 weeks every year have my medical checks say hi to friends .. Then bye to friends ! |

I lived away for 6 years (3 in S. Korea and 3 in China) and it was amazing. I had a much better quality of life in terms of disposable income (hello 3 holidays a year!) and was living pretty much stress free. I missed my family and friends but I made some awesome new friends from all around the world.
Would def recommend people give it a try... you can always come home if you hate it! |

I most definitely would go but admit it can't be an easy thing to do as my family (parents) are getting older. I know they would fully respect and support my wishes though and want me to go and carve my own niche in life no matter where that takes me.
Warmer climate a bonus. |
