My PT keeps upping my weights I use at the gym as I progress which means sore legs, arms, bums and tums (don't get me started on my back...) after most sessions. What did you lot find to be the most effective to ease the post gym DOMS?
I stretch a lot and use foam rollers after my workouts btw.
(That paragraph is so full of puns those were not intended, have a field day! Haha)

"Keep moving. I seize up if i don't keep moving"
Funny you should say that, I was just thinking that I should have had an active rest day today instead of wallowing in my sore muscles after the hardcore workouts of the weekend. |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
Warm up properly by doing a lighter version of the exercise, so a few burpees and planks before a weights workout, or a walk before a run, and so on. Then a good cool down. Drink plenty of liquid during the workout, and keep moving. The aches and pains will improve eventually. |

Another thing that helps is your protein in take as that goes to repair the muscles. I also use BCAA after work outs as this helps with the protein synthesis. Also on legs day I have a 1m cycle. GL keep up the good work |

Not been to gym in a long time... But when I was in the army I took L-Carnatine, creatine... One to increase endurance and one to help combat the acid build up.
But like I said, it's been a while |

Thanks I'm doing all that already and been working out for a while, it's just that as we're upping the weights every week the workout gets harder so my muscles never get used to one level, does that make sense? |

I got a lot of post workout soreness during the early days of my training, but you'll find it greatly diminishes as you become more experienced in the gym. |

Too much lactic acid build up in your muscles can be the cause of this. Try plenty of stretching before and after to try and prevent this. Google some extreme stretches for the body parts you're training. You will find the more you train the less this happens. Plenty of fluids could also aid in this and BCAAs to support muscle repair. |

I tend to have a protein shake asap (whey), and then a slow release (casein) shake before bed to repair the damage overnight. Usually I feel pretty good in the morning.
Other than that, BCAA tablets I find beneficial, cod liver oil, glucosamine, a multi vit.
Creatine is good stuff too, but remember to cycle it otherwise the benefits become negated. Definitely increases my rep range on cycle, and my reps feel explosive.
Anyone got any tips for cutting? I'm on my first 20 week cut, gonna shift some body fat I gained bulking last year. |

Awesome, I already have some pHd diet whey befre/after the heavier workouts (I drink half before half after), will try and incorporate fish oil and multivitamins! Thank so much |

Perfect sense, but your muscles will adapt. The best way to get stronger is to train to exhaustion, and lactic acid workouts are all the rage at the mo for that. (Lactic acid is the stuff that makes you ache). |

Can't wait! I'm about 2.5-3 months in now and only recently started training to failure with specific muscle groups. I hope my abs and quads will man up soon...! Haha |

A body massages. The ache is caused by the accumulated toxins in the muscles due to extensive cells work. The blood flow will get rid of it within the next couple days. but a body massage accelerate that process. Having a fasrer blood flow without further effort ie without producing more toxins. I am sure plenty of sexy guys here would happily volenteer for you.
A hot vath gives great results too |

(Yes I'm a bit weird)
I like it too. Means I actually did something."
Yeah it's a lovely (not so gentle) reminder. Starting to wear off now, so I need to get back to it!! |

I love the 'pump' post workout. Come out feeling like the incredible hunk, couple of hours later.....poof.....feel ridiculously small again.
Legs. Ohhhh no. Sometimes I think I'm going to leave the gym on all fours. I hate legs. But I can't skip leg day. Always falls on a Friday or Saturday (night out depending). I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to work a full shift in my job (or any other standing job) post leg day. Leg day for me is the definitive '3 scoops' day. |

There is some good advice ready given in this post but there is also some ....'interesting' ...advice ! Drop me a private message and I will explain what to do and (importantly) why !
I don't want to start a debate but not everything guys read in mens health magazine are true so i will let you know if there is scientific evidence to support the advice as well.
The good news is that you are training and that it is starting to improve your health .
Cheers

"I got chest tomoroww, love the pump I get when pushing 135kg "
Someone's hit beast mode....135? Beast!
I thought I was the only one to train chest Tuesdays! EVERYONE at my gym seems to work chest Monday, like it's international chest day or something, so I train chest on Tuesdays now too. |

Walking down stairs sideways and not being able to sit down on the loo without continuously swearing!? Haha
