"I've got a chance to have on in my new house...well I have to buy it....Are they worth the money?? "
They always look great but as for for value for money, I don't have a clue.
However I don't think you can beat a real log fire, curling up on a rug in front of it |

Yes. We have just moved to a house without one and really miss it. We had a 3 bed town house before and 2 log deliveries (£250 in total) would last us all winter. We would not need the central heating on, so that was our total winter fuel bill!
Oh, and its great to fuck in front of! |

"I was not planning on getting one and just sticking it there...lol it looks like there was one in there before...and I've been told I can put it in...I'm just wondering that was all "
If I could afford it I wouldn't hesitate, I think they are the epitome of warmth, and cosiness... And they look fabulous. |

We had ours done just over a year ago. The actual burner was about £400 ish plus fitting which added up to about £2500. But it has made our gas bill a lot less. We get a load of wood (£120 for 2 cubic metres) in that lasts about 6 months, plus coal at £5 a bag which lasts about a week. |

"How much do they cost...I've seen some at £250 to £2000
All depends what your budget is?
£1.50
How about a candle in an old jam jar?
Lol...I want an old one...I don't like the new ones "
Have a look at the Charnwood range |

jeez, £259 for logs, must be alot of logs for that to last all winter, we pay £65 for a builders bag full, lasts us about 4 weeks but well worth it |

"Check your area, a lot are smokeless zones like mine so need smokeless fuel (I think) ..can anyone confirm?"
If you go on your local council website they should show you in there where the smoke controlled areas are |

if you live in a smoke free zone you'll have to shell out a bit more for your burner or pay more for smokeless coal. a tertiary burner is permitted in smoke free zones which basically burns in such a way that no smoke is given off. do a web search and you'll find the info you need. manufacturers such as Morso or Clearview are good. |

"I've got a chance to have on in my new house...well I have to buy it....Are they worth the money?? " . Definetly... After 3yrs of mine bein in. British gas came to my house wanting to look at the meter they thought it was broke as I hardly have the heating on in the winter...if you can pay that bit more to get it plumbed into the heating system to warm up your water too, wish I had and look round for logs can get good couple of tonnes for cheaper than buyin stupid little bags. Good luck |

We have had one for a few years now and would never go back, it's brill. Think ours is only 4 or 5 kw but it's roasting and heats our 3 bed house up lovely.
We only paid 250 from greymetal stoves, think the price depends on wether it's cast iron or not.
Go for it. X |

From the spring of this year you could be eligible for payments under the renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) OF 12.8P/kWh.from what I remember of the non-domestic launch it was a bit faffy to set it up but money for heating your home can't be bad.
Any systems installed between July 2009 and the scheme start could be eligible. |
