Not really...i just needed to know about the claim process from someone who actually works in that sector to see what course of action should or could be taken for someone who's inadvertantly committed fraud  |

If it's already been reported then the fraud team will do an investigation. |

i think its something to do with amount of nights they stay and how regularly they stay over.
I heard somewhere it was more three nights a wk but im not sure.

varies from council to council some its 3 nights a week ..others if they can prove you are a couple and the other person is paying into the household |

The how many nights you stay over is a myth.
it's whether you are financially separate or share the bills etc is more of an inclination as to whether you should be claiming as a couple. |

Don't be silly, if you have a boyfriend and they are staying over they are more concerned about the financial aspect and what he is contributing to more so than how many nights he is staying over, therefore the 'its 3 nights a week' cut off point is a myth.
Not sure what you parents have to do with it  |

when i had a HB review and they wanted payslipd etc and saw that money had been transferred into my account(just the once) they took it as income and my HB was reduced as a result of a one off payment. |

I did say I wasn't sure and she should contact the fraud line.
I know in our area they use the staying over policy as I know someone who got caught letting his cousin and gf stay in his flat and they weren't paying anything towards the bills,food etc and the couple were both working full time. |

Yeh absolutely if in doubt ring and ask for clarification, everywhere is different, I was just stating that the how many nights a week rule is a myth, they look into alot more than that so if someone was gonna keep quiet just because they think they don't go over that cut off point would be wrong.
Any change of circumstances you should ring up and check whether it effects your claim. It avoids any mistakes happening. |

Usually if you are getting housing benefit the council have a three night rule
It's income support/job seekers allowance that have no number of nights. I have asked a compliance officer from the dwp about this. They look at each case separately. If you both have your own fixed addresses and all bills separate with no money exchanged between the 2 of you then you will probably be alright having someone stay a few nights a week. They don't have a three night rule because people can use this by say, your partner is a lorry driver, he stays in the lorry working away all week but comes home at weekends. You would say he didn't live with you but he has no fixed address, doesn't own or rent his own place so yours would actually be classed as his home

I don't know anywhere that has a 3 night rule anymore and I work for the goverment.
It's based on a multitude of things such as if the other person has another place that they pay for, does the post go to the address, what is registered in their name at your address and their own address, do they contribute towards shopping, gas, electricity etc. |
