My understanding is that there is a length of time that one has to wait to apply for a job at a place where one took redundancy, does anyone know how long it is? |

They are not making me redundant, it comes with the role I have agreed to take. Thanks though as had forgotten about ACAS  |

The job they made redundant won't exist but they may have others. And times change. Jobs may be cut but they can also be created. |

It is possible to apply at any time however there may be conditions attached to a redundancy package if you got one I would read through that as there is a lot of variance in them. |

It is possible to apply at any time however there may be conditions attached to a redundancy package if you got one I would read through that as there is a lot of variance in them. "

I think it depends on the company and the position. When I was made redundant I only had to wait 2 weeks but at the time I was just a call handler. If I was management I think it vwould have been 2 months. |

If you want to go back, and they want you to go back - could they make you a 'consultant' for long enough to get over any time restrictions on re-employment?
It seems to work in local government, the police, fire service etc. |

In which case there is no time constraint.
If you were in a post which was made redundant, you can apply for any other suitable post, even during the redundancy consultation period, subject to interview.
If you are accepted for another post, you "should" be able to retain the award from the redundant post. ACAS can confirm/ refute this latter.....  |

Yes I know that during the redundancy, I can apply for other jobs but then would lose the payout which is why I am going. I have searched on ACAS website for an answer but there were too many 'answers' that came up so will ring them |

It is generally dependent on the company you leave i think. I'd check with old colleagues you trust. Is the new role permanent or contracting? as some companies really don't like employees coming back as a contractor.
Not sure how they will react to you applying for a role after you volunteered to go  |

If the job is being disbanded and that's the reason for redundancy then there is nothing stopping you being made redundant in Friday and commencing a new job role/title on Monday morning. |

Redundancy Can be very complex, I d seek good independent advice, if theres a role within the company you re leaving that you re qualified to do I m surprised hr isn t offering you that role rather than the redundancy,  |

There isn't one going and those roles that are going are at other sites and I'd have to relocate if I got them |

I'm not bothered about that; I would like to stay but cannot so asked the question in case something did come up in the future |
