Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Comfort eating and eating to replace an oral fixation can feel like hunger. Try having a glass of water.
I am failing to maintain my weight but I know why and I know what I have to do.

They say that soups etc help as it slower to be absorbed. That professor on the tv (cant remember his name) says liquids as soups take longer to be used up so keep you full longer |

Work out the triggers as to why you are comfort eating....keep a diary and note what made you comfort eat at that particular time...find other ways to feed your feelings
Alternatives to emotional eating
If you’re depressed or lonely, call someone who always makes you feel better, play with your dog or cat, or look at a favorite photo or cherished memento.
If you’re anxious, expend your nervous energy by dancing to your favorite song, squeezing a stress ball, or taking a brisk walk.
If you’re exhausted, treat yourself with a hot cup of tea, take a bath, light some scented candles, or wrap yourself in a warm blanket.
If you’re bored, read a good book, watch a comedy show, explore the outdoors, or turn to an activity you enjoy
Keep healthy foods in your cupboard so if you feel as you are going to comfort eat...grab an apple or something like that...

"I'm going to be watching this for help, I haven't had a cig since last Sunday but haven't stopped eating either "
Then in terms of your blood gases etc your a non smoker therefore there are no genuine physical side effects. Your just expecting there to be. Your eating to feel good because your scared you'll feel bad. You won't.
If you need something to do with your hands and mouth....... eat dried fruit Unsalted nuts or anything else healthy
If you can manage this long, a few more hours will be easy, especially if your asleep. And if you've last 7 days another is not a lot to do is it?
Just concentrate on how much your life is going to improve. More money to spend on yourself not your drug habit, you won't smell to other people, you'll be able to smell and taste the world around you more, you'll live longer and be healthier.
Well done now go and enjoy the rest of your life. |

Given the likely trigger it could be atypical depression |

I haven't eaten in two days, in order to shift my Christmas excesses. Fasting isn't something I'd recommend to just anyone and has to be built up to slowly, but personally over the years its been my favourite way to keep my weight in check. |

Over the rainbow, under the bridge |
I was the same when my mum died. Then I decided to take charge. Firstly, I recognised that dieting was worse than pointless as you end up putting more weight on after you stop it. What was needed was a complete change in lifestyle and attitude to food.
I stopped buying ALL processed food and determined to only eat freshly prepared meals. I limited my carb intake, and switched to skimmed milk instead of semi skimmed. I stopped frying - grilling, steaming or poaching. I ate red meat only once a week (this helps my arthritis too). I ate fish or skinless, boneless chicken instead. I made sure that I piled my plate high with veggies or salad with my protein in the evening - having eaten my few carbs earlier in the day for the energy. I ate only when hungry - not when bored. And the moment I felt full I stopped eating regardless of what was left on the plate. I always ate breakfast. I never went to bed hungry - sometimes I ate little and often though this was harder whilst working. I bought only enough food for the week and had plenty of fruit for snacks.
I took up Zumba twice a week.
I still eat and exercise just like this two/three years later. My weight is fairly stable, I feel fitter and happier and my arthritis does not hurt half so much. |

"trigger has been since my dad died even though I was lucky I had him so long my husband don't help cos hes been bringing stuff to cheer me up like chocolates"
Tell him to stop....replace chocolates with a cuddle (I am sorry if I assume to think if you and hubby are still intimate).... |

Drink water, among other things. It can put off hunger (often you can mistake thirst for hunger too, daft as that sounds.)
Also - there is nobody in this thread who needs to worry about their size!

You need to address your feelings over your dad dying. You need to talk to your husband and explain how you are feeling and that although his gestures are very kind they are not helping you.
You know what your trigger is and only you can figure out how to stop it. |

If you look at your daily allowance and try to break that down into say 5 or 6 meals a day. By eating regularly you will kick start to metabolism and also you will more often than not feel full and have no requirement to eat. |

Have a look at my last post. It really worked for me and I felt so much happier taking control. The weight loss was quite steady too and I've been stable ever since. I can and will also eat the odd cake - it's not about denying yourself. It's about considering food as simply fuel. You mostly eat only what your body needs with an occasional treat. I don't even crave all the crap I used to eat - and I gave up smoking at the same time and STILL lost weight. |

A great way to lose weight quickly it HIIT training, You can do this on a stationary bike and start low and work your way up.
Basically you can cycle quickly for a min then slow for 30 sec's and do that for 10 mins to start with. Or Cycle quick for a min slow for a min, quick for 50 sec's slow for 50 sec's down to 10 sec's then rest for a min then work for 10 up to a min. It really does work. |

Any diet works - temporarily. The problem is between your ears and until you're fixed yourself, you'll yoyo forever.
Look into NLP - g00gle it. It is not airy fairy shit, it's a way of rewiring your whole relationship with your size and relationship with food.

Firstly, that depends on your fitness level - and secondly, I have arthritis in my knees so that would not necessarily be the best kind of exercise. |

everything in moderation & up your water intake.
Good luck x"
Porridge is really good as oats are.a slow release food and keep you.fuller for longer. Cooking them helps your body to process them more efficiently and get more from them. They're full of gut friendly soluble fibre and high in B vitamins which are especially good for women.
If you sweeten it with dried fruit instead of sugar or syrup porridge is incredibly good for you as well as filling. |

Two stone in about 7 weeks - it's doable - just concentrate on getting fit and healthy and be strict. Don't buy any tempting foods, and don't allow them to be bought for you. If there's no snacks in then you can't snack!! Works for me. Sometimes even now I go to the fridge and realise there is nothing handy to grab so come away empty-handed. |

I was the same after I list my mum last march, and it's only since the end of no vice turned it around. Been hooting the gym every day and replacing the chocolate high with a far longer lasting exercise high has helped wonders. I'm down two belt holes and have my pecs and arms back much to the missus joy ! |
