Actually, just thinking about it and I seem to remember that it was banned at one point wasn't it? My Scottish history - although drummed into me at school in Scotland, isn't that good. Anyone help?

Anyway, if true that didn't work either.

Yes all highland dress was banned after the second Jakabite rebellion I believe.

was banned until Queen Victoria took a shine to Burns and Scotland... but me still dont believe there's no other bits of cloth under a kilt...

The kilt as banned after Culloden however, Queen Vic liked her holidays in Balmoral and playing with John Browns chanter, she reintroduced it into Scottish society.

To be honest, its only worn at weddings, football/rugby matches and off course pipe bands and Highland Regiments.

Like majority of Scotsmen who own one I wear nothing below it except my chanter.

As a Scottish Historian and Editor of my Clan Journal I also wear mine at annual Clan gatherings.

Well, as i understand it the reason the testicles hang outside the body is because sperm production requires a lower temperature, so maybe a kilt wearing man is more er 'potent'
