Normally used Daz detergent in liquid form but its now finished and now I'm using Daz in powder form.
Now I've just put a washing in and on the box it says to mix the powder with water and pour into the detergent drawer.....
I thought you just put the powder in the drawer.
Ladies of Fab is it ok to do the latter or will it clog up the machine? ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

Ruby convinced me to use powdered laundry detergent the other day, it also happens to be Daz, I have just been chucking it in the drawer and I'm really impressed so far, it smells far better than liquid and you get more washes out of a box too... |

Using powder causes scum to collect between the drum and the rubber seal ..be sure to clean there regularly with finger in a rag or you'll eventually get dirty streak marks on light colours. Hard water scale can also cause this. You can't beat the old 'twin tub' ...remember them? ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

"I use bold or aerial I love fabric softener "
Me too cheeky. But I've found that the bold 2 in 1 that I've got now is much better value for money as the fabric softener is built in! |

A washing machine engineer recommended that I wash my towels on a boil wash (or the highest setting possible) to kill any bactetia in the machine. Don't know whether it was bs but I always do this now. |

Why do you only ask the ladies?
Surely men do the washing as well (as it is your case).
Or did we go back to 1950 and I missed it? |

NEVER USE POWDER, unless you do an extra rinse, because modern machines work at lower temps and use less water the powder tends to stay in the clothes, causing rashes, spots and minor irritations, all powder should be dissolved first, if you have to use it.
Best for your skin, especially kids and the elderly is a non biological liquid, Aldi have best value, liquid sachets. |
