So I am currently going through a divorce. I am trying to make it is amicable and easy as possible, but why oh why do women have to be so nasty and vicious during the process???

And you think this is exclusive to women . I can assure you a shit separation can be made worse by both sexes.

because they have made the wrong choice of partner, and hate the fact that they were wrong, so usually try and transfer the failure onto their partner.

i am trying but the fact she wants to financially cripple me, despite letting her have the house and car and me still paying for them.

Oh well i will have to vent my frustrations somehow without dropping to her level.

Not all women do so. I've recently separated and eventually going to divorce, but it's being done as amicable as possible. Emotions run high at such a time and I admit I do feel upset and a tad angry, guilty too. Perhaps this is what your spouse is feeling too.

I was never nasty during my divorce and we broke up because of his constant lies.

I'm a good perdon and just don't have it in me to be nasty even when I try

My divorce was going fine until her mother got involved. At that point it all went to hell and the nastiness started. Still its in the past. All you can do is pick up and move on

this is the most poignont thing i have read, and so very true.

with divorce its usually the one that has been wronged that is the most nasty (we have no idea why the relationship broke down, and personally i would take what you say in these forums with a pinch of salt as it will never be the whole truth)

kids are also used as weapons by parents, because many (male and female) cant detach their own feelings of the ex being a shit partner, from the fact they were probably a decent parent, but thats life.

the only way to avoid it is to never have any human contact. EVER. and we all know thats never going to happen.

as has been said, keep your head held high and dont stoop to any level lower than that you have already maintained.

you may walk away with empty pockets, but your pride will be intact.

SOME people!

My husband and I managed to divorce amicably, even though I had to wait five years for the divorce. During that time we both attended parents evenings, college and university visits. Travelled together to visit our daughter at uni in Derby and the other when she moved to Portsmouth. We sat side by side at our daughters graduations, proud as peacocks. We used to spend bank holidays as a family. People thought we were still married as we would be out and about together. When his mum developed dementia and he moved into her flat to look after her I'd help out and had her one Christmas. We talk regularly, his sons visit me once a month. Their mum died last year and my ex visited her every day. My girls and their husbands/partners visited too and attended the funeral.

If we hadn't divorced in 2009 this year would have seen us celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary.

That said, WE ended us. Our son died and WE didn't grieve together. If however he had cheated, fallen out of love with me, would I have been so civil, calm and collected?

Erm...

I divorced years ago now. The ex was told off for his behaviour during mediation. The mediator and solicitor were not impressed. Basically I came away with debt I can never clear. He went bankrupt so I hot the debt. He is now financially sorted as partner has a house. I still have the debt and am currently trying to get him to see our kids more often than once a month when he almost drives past our door after work on a Friday.

I do think people deflect their feelings onto the other person. I was given silly reasons for the end of our marriage but he refused to discuss and try sort it out.

I got myself through depression after a few years but still the effects of visitation are around now.

His life has moved on. Away from his kids from our marriage.

Unfortunately I guess people show their true colours at times.

To the OP. Just try to keep things good and if there are kids then please continue to be a father. I hope you get it sorted xx

All i can say based on own experience is if kids involved bite your tongue best you can sadly as amicable as you try things become heated and things said you may both in time regret.

As others say its not just women though for pure vileness in my experience are different breed.

I had moments during the divorce where i was unpleasant verbally and regret some things said but heat of moment lack of control hard to control.

Good luck to you both.

Haha, yeah we are all just out for your money and revenge.

Like the usual bleat when someone posts about single men on here, try not to tar us all with the same brush. Me and my ex split up extremely amicably and are still friends now. And he was the one who cheated on me too! So try to keep a sense of perspective, especially if children are involved.

Do what others have said & rise above it. Your kids will love you whatever comes out of the divorce. Parents all to easily spend their time scoring points off each other & forget that the children didn't ask to be born or for their parents to split .

I'm lucky, but only because I like to think I stayed civil during the whole process & I made sure we split everything equally. My ex & I are very good friends.

Hopefully in a few years, it'll be water under the bridge. At the time though I remember , it's all consuming.
