It's short for ampersand which is that squiggly symbol on your keyboard which can mean 'and'. Sometimes if you use it it pops up as 'amp'. Don't know why but I am sure there are more techy people on here who can tell you. |

As above; it is an abreviation of ampersand. Which is a corruption of " and per se and" or "and on its own and". It was the 27th letter of the Victorian alphabet. |
