to diinfect their sweeties by picking them up off the floor and blowing on them before eating them. Or, is it something genetically programmed into them? ![](/icons/s/razz.gif) |

You wouldn't if you worked in a hospital. Anything dropped on the floor there should stop on the floor ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

In agreement - while we have, as a society become a bit obsessed with sprays and disinfectants, I would never eat or serve anything that had been on the floor, neither would my kids.
I am just picturing the little bugs nudging each other saying... Oy lets get on that sweet quickly before 5 secs are up, so they all run for it and you are buggered with your five second rule, folks ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Oh - I thought this was a light hearted thread - sorry - my mistake - I would never ever in a million years eat or allow any off spring of mine to eat anything that had been any where near any floor - bad bugs - bbbrrrrrrrr - what were we thinking! Z |

I remember planking my then 2 year old down with a bowl of watsits so I could get peace and quiet on the phone for 5 minutes. She smashed them up and stuffed then down the sides of the sofa so I hoovered the sofa and while lifting cushions the oldest asked why I needed to do that I explained oldest kid says "but mum you might find my toffees" when I asked her why she stuffed them there I was told "so shorty wont eat them" then I remembered I had bought the toffees a week earlier and thought she had taken them to school as tuck - no she had stuffed them under the sofa cushions and was eating one a day when I was making the dinner
The sofa went in the bin along with all the toffee

That is quite funny.. reminds me of when my boys, then about 3 and 4. Having moved into a new home, about five weeks later we found that there was a strange smell emerging from the dining room. We have no carpets in the house, just wooden and stone flooring due to asthma in the family so it could not be the soft furnishing... Eventually we discovered left over sausages, fish fingers and vegetable stuffed under the cupboard!!!

lol - long story short - mum used to look after my son when he was little - went to pick him up after work one day - she said he had been outside with her but apologised that he had been eating currants - i queried that as it wasn't a bad thing surely - she said - nope - rabbit currants - the pet rabbits had been out of their hutches and he had eaten some poo! he has never been ill and is nearly 6ft at 15 years old Z |
