Another brave soldier from The Rifles killed.
Lest we forget.
We know this is a swinging site but lets pray for those who protect us regardless of wheather we feel we should be doing what there sent to do.

Whilst feeling the deepest sympathy and empathy for all members of our armed forces who have sacrificed their lives in the current conflicts ...
What exactlty are they 'protecting us' from ????
Nothing !
Our country isn't being invaded by anyone and this is an illegal war and the sooner our troops are withdrawn the better to reduce the risk of any further wasted lives.

As the OP said whether we agree or not, we are losing brave young men and asks that we remember them |

Lets not get the wrong end of the stick here ....
I have 101% respect for all the armed forces and the job they do
But 0% respect for a war in which we should not be involved .. |

"No one has said I 'm a mod all I ask is that you show some respect as the OP has asked for."
And my respect has been shown to the armed forces, but so has my disrespect for an illegal war and a pointless loss of lives ... |

Wether you agree with the war against terror or not, or wether you perecieve it to be an illegal war or a legitimate one - the threat of Al-Queda remains. If the Western Alliance hadn't removed the Taliban from power in Afghanistan Osama Bin Laden would have had 9 years of operating however he felt like it, in whatever field of operation he chose. But he hasn't has he? He's been holed up in a cave in Northern Pakistan somewhere unable to wage his war or terror. His promises of retaliation against any country that assists the Americans has been nothing but bluster.
That's what our boys have done out there, and are continuing to do. They have freed the Afghan people from a regime that forbade them to even dance.
Red: You are seriously misguided and/or deluded if you think it is an illegal war. Any war fought to free humans from oppression cannot be illegal. It's the human thing to do. |

I have to back Red Hot on this one.
1. Their/His/Her response is as valid as anyone elses.
2. I am not religious and wont pray for anyone.
3. People die every moment of every day in every walk of life.
4. For someone to say they have no respect for another poster simply because they hold a different view is exactly what soldiers are fighting for ins't it ? Smaller scale but exactly the same thing.
5. I do recognise a jingoistic media when I see/hear/read it.
Several people died unexpectedly in Liverpool alone while I wrote this thread. |
