"If you work for British Airways and have been on strike this week, next time you see a soldier who's returned from Afghanistan/Iraq make sure you tell him/her about your awful working conditions, poor uniform, long hours and low pay!! for my friend who is there xoxoxox " They can also tell all the youngsters like my son that try every single day to get a job and has had only two interviews in a year and neither bothered to get back. Should be lucky they got a job at all ungreatful twats

"I completely disagree with the BA strike and have 100% support for our troops wherever they are serving but I don't think the comparison is fair........it's a bit like saying no one should ever ask for a pay rise because there are children starving in Africa." I would agree the troops are a very different thing or anyone asking for a pay rise would get something thrown at them.

" I agree with you all. Exchange of labour should be banned. All citizens should be born into slavery without rights and be worked to death. Soldiers really are special. They don't sign up to do their job and shouldn't be expected to. Damn B.A. Workers fucking malcontents. " Well i wouldn't out it that strongly granny but people should be allowed to fight for their rights.

"So let me get this right, because we have our men fighting in Afghanistan then every worker in the UK should allow employers to ride rough shod over them as it's disrespectful to the troops? It's far more disrespectful to use our brave troops as an excuse to slate striking workers back home, the two things are totally unconnected." Yesssssss Well said!

"What's happened is that the old working class 'professions' no longger exist. With the exception of postmen, the jobs that many working class people were proud to be have long been replaced by fast food and hypermarkets. I'm referring to the old professions such as milkman, baker, butcher etc. These were jobs that working class people were rpoud to spend a lifetime doing but they don't exist anymore and we're left with a social class with has no identity. They're told what to think, what to eat, what to drink and where to go, whilst in the meantime we're flooded with another country's underclass who are only too happy to do any job that's asked of them. I don't resent the Poles for coming here to work, they want a better life and I'd do the same if the situation was reversed, but we have got to start addressing the underlying problems of the working class in this country and not just throw soundbites at the issue." the problem has gone too far allready to be able to address it the uk cant mine coal anymore its imported from other countries that have low paid workers , just like we cant make steel anymore , or anything from an ocean going ship to a flaming raliegh bycycle our tv and phones are made in japan , fridges and washing machines in italy , and anything from a shoe to a washing up bowl in china theres very very little of anything in fact left you got o2 owned by spanish , along with abby national , cadbury , the london eye owned by other foreign countries in fact it is far easier to list the things we still own , but i cant think of anything even mc donalds and kfc are american middle class jobs were mentioned earlier , on many ocassions on other threads people have bleated on about the poles etc having to have a degree etc to work in a light bulb factory sweeping up in there own countrie, and its true those that are here now picking potatoes have got those quallifications , and as soon as they get the chance will target those middle class , and blue collar jobs and yes i agree GOOD LUCK TO THEM as i would do the same thing myself but it does not alter the fact that they will erode working conditions , and the level of pay for , doctors , barristers , designers , and potatoe pickers alike just wait and see

"Well I'm confused! People are moaning about striking BA workers who are fighting for their rights, in the process losing all their perks like free flights, whilst at the same time mourning the loss of our coal mines that Arthur Scargill fought to save by taking industrial action! It's our own apathy that has lead us to this point. I remember when a lot of Polish children joined my daughter's school. They could hardly speak English but in less than a year were fluent and obtaining As. My daughter came home and said the Headmaster had read the riot act saying they should be ashamed of their Bs and Cs when children with English as a second language was beating them: most of the kids got it! People moan about foreigners taking over jobs they don't want because they're low paid, yet turn around and deride workers fighting to protect their jobs and conditions! Should they fail and Willie Walsh gives the jobs to Eastern Europeans what will you say then! Look at the bigger picture, support those fighting to maintain a standard of life for all of us instead of seeing them as self serving greedy wankers! " dont be confused its quite simple we support the BA workers but they do not have a chance if it was really difficult to find cabin crew , like it is to find lets say brain surgeons do you really think that willie walsh would be taking them on ? of course not , its those clever little polish children you mention that have now grown up that will be looking to replace them on lower wages they have the mentality to be extreemly hard working , and are prepared to do that for lower pay i for one do not deride anyone , i am just stating the facts polish , and other foreign workers are prepared to work for lower wages and longer gruelling hours there have been hundreds of people on the other threads blowing there trumpets from the rooftops stating just that that is the climate that the BA workers find themselves in they are cabin crew on strike , and there are thousands and thousands that could , and would , and have in fact done it , they have taken there place if your on strike and theres thousands being trained up to do your job theres only one word for it , heres a clue F
