I'm no cook, but what's the best way to cook and serve up a lobster or three?

Any special tricks or favourite seasonings to cook the lobster?

Lobster Thermidor is like anal sex.

You rarely get either at home.

What does lobster taste like?

Is it fishy like tuna?

Iv always wanted to try it since watching flash dance... Where she was eating bits of one very seductively!

I've never had lobster. So, this is a first for me. Not sure what it tastes like.

..And it's fresh. Just got it this morning. Not a fan of things with outer shells. I usually prefer lean meat - but, hey. Venturing on to the unknown..

the accepted humane way (if its live of course) is to put it in the freezer for 2 hours to send it into a "hibernation" state and then just drop into boiling water. told this by a friend whos a chef when i had one given to me, some say to just drop it into boiling water without freezing as it kills them instantly.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Are the lobsters brown or pink?

If they are pink they have been boiled already. If brown you need to cook them

We just have lots of different melted buttery dips. One with lemon, one with chilli or whatever comes to hand. It doesn't need much.

"Lobster Thermidor is like anal sex.

Here how to make it .. I just love this and make it a lot .

2 cooked lobsters

For the butter

150ml dry white wine

1 shallot, very finely chopped

handful tarragon leaves, chopped

handful parsley leaves, chopped

1 tsp Dijon mustard

juice 1/2 lemon

pinch paprika

dash Tabasco sauce

5 tbsp parmesan, finely grated

140g butter, softened.

1.First make the butter. Put the wine and shallot into a pan, then bring to the boil and simmer until nearly dry. Tip into a bowl to cool, mix all the ingredients together, roll into a log, using cling film or foil, then chill to harden.

2.Snap away the claws from the lobster. Using a large knife, cut the lobster in half and wash the head cavity under cold water, then dry with kitchen paper. Lay the lobsters, cut side up, on a baking tray. Crack the claws and remove the claw meat. Divide claw meat between the head cavities. This can be done the day before and the lobster kept in the fridge ready for grilling.

3.Heat grill to high. Slice the butter into thin rounds and lay it along the lobsters so all the meat is covered. Grill for 5-8 mins until the butter is bubbling and starting to brown. Put the lobsters on plates, pouring any butter from the tray over them. Serve with new potatoes and some dressed salad leaves.

If its fresh ignore the "stick a squewer in its head" wont work as its brain is so small that its nearly impossible to hit it..

There isnt really a humane way of killing it..

Get a really really big pan and bring to a rolling boil..

Drop lobster in and boil for 12 mins MAX!

Google Rick Stiens Thermador Sauce!

Enjoys..

I've got lobster claws. Does that count? That's a certain kind of finger isn't it?

I'm guessing it's the smell of lobster. The fire alarm hasn't gone off yet.

...i don't smell burning. Well, not yet. I usually end up burning the handles of the pan somehow.

If I were to serve it at home, then just steamed, and make a garlicky mayo to go with it.

FAB is so educational. Worst food poisoning I ever had was from a seafood salad inc lobster. Tread lightly.....

Instead of steaming, I could boil it too. Probably easier to boil than to steam at home as one needs quite a large steamer for the job.

Chop it up in chunks, and stir-fried with garlic, ginger and cream, one of my favourite dishes at seafood restaurants in the Far East.

as a chef I have helped many lobsters on their way as humanly as possible. Chill to fool it into hibernation like state then using a sharp chef knife place tip at the rear of the head dead centre where it joins the body. quickly push down hard then bring knife laterally in effect to cut the head in half, takes a second and the lobster is instantly dead although nerves may function for a brief period after fooling people that its live, its not. Boil and serve with butter mmm mmm.

Bloody hell. A hammer? I don't want to resurrect the poor creature lol.

Smoked salmon is on the list. And a normal salmon fillet shall be my back up plan.

Smoked salmon is a starter.

I use the hammer when I am trying to crack everything open to get the meat out to use for something like lobster and chilli linguine.

For the smaller lobsters I cut them open with a strong pair of scissors.
