Lol.. they really ought to sort this on the site, it comes up alot.

it means the '&' sign... i.e. ampersand.

The & is a special character reserved for programmers. In HTML it's used to display hexidecimal codes and that make up the colours you see on screen but it's also used for a non-breaking space ( ) which, because of a glitch in the way the server is interpeting the code that drives the forums, is where you see it on here most of the time.
