To be totally pedantic, days do get longer, but only by a few seconds. From the 11th Dec to the 31st Dec, the day length only varies by 5 min, so I take this as the start and end of the solstice celebrations. I'm not sure how accurately ancient man could have measured the height of the sun at mid day, so I'm guessing that to them, the sun was "still" for a week or more.

It's not Beltane until May, so probably about as easy to find as Easter/Eostre cards are at this time of year. |
