I've noticed a couple of rehashes coming out this year, firstly, Nightmare on Elm Street, now the first one was brilliant but like all sequels, they should just not bother, this film has been redone (despite all the sequels that came from the original, 5 i think), I am looking forward to seeing this one just out of curiosity more than anything else but the one that has caught my eye is Tron Legacy, now giving the ground breaking graphics used in the original back in 1982, the Legacy film as you can imagine with the advancement of CGI looks like its been majorly pimped, a film very pleasing to the eye (like Avatar), but it makes me think has the movie industry lost its passion for originality, I mean, Peter Jackson is working on the remake of The Dambusters, and although the films special effects are highly questionable, its a shame a film like that is allowed to be remade, I don't think it will be as good as the original and mr Jackson will hope the his CGI dept WetaDigital will do enough to make it a summer block buster, why can't they come up with something new for a change

While people go and see them out of curiosity, they’ll still keep making them unfortunately, its like repeat threads on here, same thing slightly different scripts, and like repeat posts not everyone has seen the original, so there’s always a market out there for the younger generation. |

Can remember a few years back now, my friends daughter was all excited about going to the cinema to see the remake of the texas chainsaw massacre, a few weeks later when I saw her again, she said she enjoyed the film, I told her we had seen that many moons ago and had the original on DVD which she borrowed, when she returned it she said the acting was dreadful and everything looked so fake that she couldn’t stop laughing all the way through, so even though we may remember classics that at the time were awesome, try telling that to someone who seen the remake before the original |

I fail to see how The Dambusters can be enhanced from the original except colourising it and making the bombs bounce a bit better. What many people don't realise is that the original was deliberately shot in black & white to allow integration of real footage of the practice runs for the bouncing bombs. I like the wartime feel of the original and it's one of those films that has withstood the test of time as it has an historical significance that elevates it from a mere flick to a docufilm. |

The recent remakes of Alfie, The Italian Job, and Get Carter were pathetic damp squibs when compared with the brilliant originals.
Eventually I saw the remakes and just thought - 'What a waste of time and effort'. |

I think the title will sell the film, specially as a lot will go to see it out of curiosity and compare it to the original, I agree with you though, The Dambusters is a classic film, I did enjoy Carling Black Labels Advert in reference to the movie, laughed my ass off when I first saw that in the flicks |
