Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
There's a Hilton Any Weekend in 2014 sale on at the moment.
I can find rooms all across the country for under £50.
So where would you go and who would you take?
Where should I go and who should I take? |

Titz Towers, North Notts |
Northumbria because it is lovely up there. Not sure who I'd take as it's not really TG central, unless we were to hit Newcastle. More a night in front of a log fire sort of place. |

Newcastle! That's it. I should book a trip to the NE and visit all of the far flung forum folk up there.
Now, who should I take with me and how do I persuade the rest of you to book rooms too? |

January through to March is already busy with events and parties. April has Easter but it also has my birthday... Is it June or July that will be busy for you? August is out as people go away.
So, May, September or October I think.

"Newcastle Hilton is in Gateshead,,,,
Is that good or bad? Can we find a nice bar for a drink or are you telling us to avoid the NE?"
The Hotel is located right next to the Tyne Bridge on the Gateshead side of the river,,,, it pretty much overlooks the whole Newcastle quayside area…
Newcastle has a reasonably vibrant area known locally as the pink triangle where swingers would feel right at home ……
But compared to Manchesters alternative nightlife scene I don’t think Newcastle offers any real competition ....

Right, so far we are going to Manchester, Gateshead, Bath and Ireland.
The end of April, May and October are up for grabs.
I am ruling out the end of April as Easter is late in 2014 so the prices won't be as good. That leaves us with May and October.
I'm leaving out Manchester as someone will no doubt arrange something at a club in Manchester sometime in the year (albeit too late for this offer).
So we need to take the socialising to far flung places.
Gateshead in May and either Ireland or Bath in October? |

The phrase herding cats springs to mind. If I were you, pick your favoured venue, pick your favoured date, let everyone know and I'm sure it will work. What was it Kevin Costner said in Field of Dreams, "if you build it, they will come" - feels very apt with a slightly different spelling of the last word |

It won't be a club social but as we'll be at the Hilton together anything that happens in the privacy of a room is none of my business.

"May might be good because of the bank holidays. Gives people extra time to travel."
But the Bank Holidays will be closer to £100-£150 a night than £50. I'll find out when they are and check Gateshead prices.

"Auckland Hilton is at the end of a wharf right over the harbour, - take me!!! "
That is a lovely Hilton. I only had a drink there. Until I can afford the flight I don't think I should book the hotel.
In other news, the Friday and Saturday nights at the Gateshead Hilton are:
£194 in total for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend and
£167 in total for the Spring Bank Holiday weekend
The other weekends in May are about the same price.
12th April for one night is £67 at the Double Tree by Hilton at the airport. No offers on two nights there though. |

I'm ruling Bath out completely. It's over £300 even in the sale in October.

We stayed there a couple of months ago for Reggie's birthday, I think its a really nice hotel.
In a good location - walking distance to city centre.
We went up for football and visited Club F (only about £12 in a taxi!) so we didn't see much else in terms of nightlife. I'm still waiting on my award for Best GF 2013... |

They are in February and March and not near any holidays. Mid week in the warmer months has some £50 rooms. I may have to book a mid-week on my own and hope at the NE folk will want to come out to dinner with me.

"Ok so where are you going now, and when? "
I haven't been NE for a few years so after Soxy suggested it that one makes sense to me. I have a week in March I always take as a holiday so I am probably going to book one of the cheap rooms for then and let people know I up there.
I might do the same for Ireland.
It would have been nice to have a gathering and a party though.
