A Secret Hideaway In the caravan of love

That's going backwards isn't it?

I thought the future is going to be a cashless society.

When some don't even have a bank/building society account?

We already live in a cashless society, just that nobody will admit it.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I think the idea is for them to be resistant to wear and tear. I'd rather have one resistant to rising prices.

"I use cash mostly..

A lot of partially sighted people judge whether money is real or not by the feel of the 'paper'.

north Down

We in N.Ireland used a plastic £5 note for about 10years to test them and they were terrible felt and sat funny and the print wore out very quickly .

Apparently there was a public consultation on this. It started in September and finished last month. Did anyone know that?

Aside from seeing it on breakfast news I had no idea.

Private Eye have made much of that and the various problems with the preferred company supplying said notes

Yes, from what they suggested there are the usual cosy business relationships going on and driving the agenda.

Yeah and no problems or dramas. Can't see what all the fuss is about. And they are harder to counterfeit.

At least 15 years, from memory; they cost five times more to produce but last 20 times longer - or something like that. They're much better!!

And you don't really notice that they're plastic apart from the little transparent window. I've still got some from my last trip there.

Yes, I remember the windows now!

They last so much longer & hardly ever rip; I've one ½ of a £20 note in a drawer, hoping that the other half will show up soon!!
